Updated Nov 2022....still not up to par as far as food being hot, or fast, or very good for that matter, mediocre at best, better service this time but nothing good enough to keep us coming back, personally i have found them to be very unfriendly, they're the only gig in town otherwise they definitely wouldn't be as busy as they are, even when they are slow it still takes forever to get food, something is always wrong or missing from the dish, and the portions of sour cream and guacamole have dwindled to almost nothing, i realize food costs are skyrocketing but don't advertise that it comes with sour cream and guacamole when it's barely a teaspoon plopped on a bunch of lettuce to hide how small the amount actually is. Mexican is definitely a top 5 favorite food of mine and i can't begin to count how many places I've tried but I have no clue what some of these reviews are talking about as far as it being great...definitely not. Figured we'd try them yet again as we prefer to shop and eat local but we have tried them sooooo many times and the only thing that improved was the service at our last visit so unless I'm in desperate need of mexican food I'll continue to take the drive to Tallahassee for much better food.
Original Post ~ Food was ok, service was good, the only thing I did not like was not getting a "check\bill" at the end of my meal, instead you pay at the counter once you are done, which is fine, but I prefer to see my bill before...
Read moreYou can not get better Mexican food than with Rancho Grande. They have several restaurants around ...Thomasville on Hwy. 19 is the newest one...There is one or two over near Tiftin, one in Madison and here in Monticello... They are building a new restaurant just across the street from the current one. It is looking awesome. It has two stories. The second one has an open air bar and party deck. The facade is traditional Mexican with stucco and iron grill work on the windows. Can't wait until it is complete .
We always order the Mexican Tacos (back page of the menu). It is a soft taco with a variety of grilled seasoned meats for filling. The pork is awesome (carnitas -- little meat). They top them with fresh cilantro, chopped onion, and lime wedges. Ask for the salsa verde if you like something hot. Add it to the top of your taco.
They have a secret guacamole. You have to ask for it special because it is not on the menu. Mexican Traditional Guacamole. It is chunky, with chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeno, fresh lime juice. It is so good and they give you a large portion with chips. I don't know how much it costs but I don't care because it is sooooooooo yummy.
Rancho Grande in Monticello is worth the drive. Come for the shops and the antiques, and have lunch or dinner at the Grande.
