Updated Nov 2022....still not up to par as far as food being hot, or fast, or very good for that matter, mediocre at best, better service this time but nothing good enough to keep us coming back, personally i have found them to be very unfriendly, they're the only gig in town otherwise they definitely wouldn't be as busy as they are, even when they are slow it still takes forever to get food, something is always wrong or missing from the dish, and the portions of sour cream and guacamole have dwindled to almost nothing, i realize food costs are skyrocketing but don't advertise that it comes with sour cream and guacamole when it's barely a teaspoon plopped on a bunch of lettuce to hide how small the amount actually is. Mexican is definitely a top 5 favorite food of mine and i can't begin to count how many places I've tried but I have no clue what some of these reviews are talking about as far as it being great...definitely not. Figured we'd try them yet again as we prefer to shop and eat local but we have tried them sooooo many times and the only thing that improved was the service at our last visit so unless I'm in desperate need of mexican food I'll continue to take the drive to Tallahassee for much better food.

Original Post ~ Food was ok, service was good, the only thing I did not like was not getting a "check\bill" at the end of my meal, instead you pay at the counter once you are done, which is fine, but I prefer to see my bill before...

You can not get better Mexican food than with Rancho Grande. They have several restaurants around ...Thomasville on Hwy. 19 is the newest one...There is one or two over near Tiftin, one in Madison and here in Monticello... They are building a new restaurant just across the street from the current one. It is looking awesome. It has two stories. The second one has an open air bar and party deck. The facade is traditional Mexican with stucco and iron grill work on the windows. Can't wait until it is complete .

We always order the Mexican Tacos (back page of the menu). It is a soft taco with a variety of grilled seasoned meats for filling. The pork is awesome (carnitas -- little meat). They top them with fresh cilantro, chopped onion, and lime wedges. Ask for the salsa verde if you like something hot. Add it to the top of your taco.

They have a secret guacamole. You have to ask for it special because it is not on the menu. Mexican Traditional Guacamole. It is chunky, with chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeno, fresh lime juice. It is so good and they give you a large portion with chips. I don't know how much it costs but I don't care because it is sooooooooo yummy.

Rancho Grande in Monticello is worth the drive. Come for the shops and the antiques, and have lunch or dinner at the Grande.

Tell Jose...

I'm really quite excited sharing my wife's and myself experience at this restaurant. We are loyal and devoted customers, have enjoyed the staff, along with the well balanced, reasonably priced, and delicious menu. Also, it should be mentioned they offer substitutions to accommodate your diet. Additional, the staff is well trained and competent serving your request. Altogether, bravo! Job well done. Once again (this is a separate visit) my wife and myself are extremely proud to share our experience with the public concerning a restaurant. We are loyal and devoted customers and have had the pleasure to enjoy fantastic service, excellent meals in a environment that is cozy and relaxing. It goes without mention that the staff and chefs are extremely experienced and very well trained. Our meals have always been cooked to perfection, at the correct temperature, and extremely satisfying. Meal substitutions and additions are made without hesitation. It goes without mention that a return visit is definitely in order. Altogether bravo!...

This restaurant was amazing!! The black bean dip and tortilla chips were fabulous, the Alamos with steak, chicken and shrimp was absolutely delicious 😋. The 2 for 1 strawberry mango swirl margaritas were the best ever. Rancho Grande was the only Mexican restaurant in monticello fl. When we got there it was so crowded, we almost went somewhere else, but im so glad we stayed. We got right in despite the huge crown and service was impeccable. The one thing I didn't like is that it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. The acoustics of the building magnified the noise, but we got there at the busy time so it was bound to be noisy. I will definitely be going back next year, it was literally the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to.

Nice Atmosphere...colorful seating, feels and looks like an authentic Mexican Palace. Wife ordered a TACO salad but the meat was not drained. The salad was constantly draining grease even after we changed plates. My Tamale was not fresh . Ends of Tamale was extremely hard and middle was also hard. Very appealing to the eyes but as a chef their food is deceptive. Take my word.. Everything that looks good isn't . Looks can be deceiving. Waitress and management was not very cordial when we made them aware of our food and speaking Spanish in front of customer while discussing our complaint with kitchen Mgr next to us was disrespectful. I wanna know what they're saying about us. Feel me?

I really enjoy the atmosphere. I’ve eaten here twice and I have enjoyed my food each time. The chips and salsa are SO GOOD!! The salsa is perfect, I went through at leave 3 cups of it before dinner. I ordered a virgin pina coloda and it was good but expensive for a drink without alcohol. It was $6 and I would think that would be for a non-virgin drink. I appreciate that they had the option of having a virgin drink though and it wasn’t just some pre-mix. They also have this avocado mix that is fantastic and I don’t even like guacamole but I will eat this!
