Rugies Dugout — Restaurant in Monticello

i recently moved to monticello from south side of chicago area. the food in monticello is lacking compared to what im used to. i tried here and was so happy with the food, the people , first of all the food is HOT and the drinks are COLD, im a lil picky and when i asked them for extra ice in a side cup they were happy to get it with zero attitude, they are so nice here danielle,, hagen,, andy,,, all care about your visit , the owner is also onsite alot and he comes out to ensure my visit is good, he actually does care about his business and not just getting a few bukks off of me. he has actually taken some ideas i have for him, one very hot day i was just lightheaded and was getting sick and told waitress i need water quick . and i got up and started to head out while my kids paid,, the waitress had a big cup of ice cold water for me ASAP,,,. she also cared about how i felt.. but as we ll know ,all the great service is nuthin if the food stinks,,, and as i said b4 the wings are number 1 in the area, the sandwiches are awesome, the food is hot , taste good , and fresh.. i have never left this place with an empty belly and believe me i have a big belly to fill ...

My family & I ate here for the first time last night. It is such a family friendly kind of place. Customer Service is outstanding!

My husband liked his sandwich (The Ringer) with a 32 oz Guinness.

I got the referee with Loaded tater tots with water! It was pretty good.

Our daughter originally got chicken tenders & fries but she didn't like the breading ( mind you, my daughter is a picky eater. It was a different breading, but my husband and I taste it and it was good. It was more of a peppery light type breading. ) In result of her not liking it, she informed the waitress and she offered to trade it for something she would like free of charge. She picked Mini Corn Dogs and that is what our son got as well minus he got tater tots! He loved it!

After dinner, we decided to share and try their sweets. We tried their funnel fries. (Funnel cake but fries shape!) They were delish! I didn't care for the chocolate sauce but my kids & husband liked it. Im more of a hot fudge type! But alone without the sauce, I enjoyed it!

Well. This place was really good the first time I tried it. This time it was absolutely AWFUL. Got 2 orders of Chicken Alfredo. The chicken was dark meat this time, which I’ve never seen before in a Alfredo dish. The previous time it was not dark meat. The chicken tasted like it went bad or was close to going bad. Both orders were thrown away and we couldn’t even eat them because how awful the chicken was. The Alfredo sauce was VERY bland as well. The salads were mushy and gross and we threw those out too. The first time we ordered the Alfredo a few weeks ago, we never got salads.. so I’m assuming they forgot them the last time we ordered. There was a huge difference in taste quality when ordering lunch and dinner from here. When we ordered at dinner time it tasted a million times better.
