Me and my husband are new to this area so we decided to try Dongs famous buffet. We went in we were seated immediately, and the girl got our drinks for us and set them down on the table while we went up to the buffet we came back, sat down and ate a little bit, but me and my husband don’t gorge ourselves and we ask for a togo box for the food we had on our plate. A woman came to our table and told us that we had to pay 1499 for the to go box and I told her I said we just paid for our food. It was the same price and she said if you wanted to go bucks you have to pay for an additional 1499. I told her there was no way for the little amount that we had on our plate and that was the first time we went to the buffet and that was the remainder of what our food was. Well she got pissy with us and told us since that was the first time we had been there that she would give us that to go boxes. I saw quite a few people walking around with to go boxes so I didn’t think that they would do this. I thought I am not paying an additional 1499 for that. It was bullshit. The waitress just sat down our drinks and walked away and never came back, so no tip was there for that And no good reviews for the smart ass lady behind the desk. Their food was pretty good. I have to admit that but all it was there was humongous people stuffing their faces so you better eat everything on your plate and don’t ask for...
Read moreOur first time here. We came because we heard it was really good from local chat boards on Facebook. We got here at 8pm on a random Thursday, am hour and a half until close.
Only about 3-4 items that we tried had been out a little long, but easily upwards of 20+ items still wonderfully fresh. Everything tastes Great, and for me, especially the walnut chicken. Yes, walnut chicken. A nice white sauce that makes it look suspiciously like coconut shrimp at other buffets, but it most assuredly is not. A Must have. 5 islands of food. 3 of dinner items, 1 of salad and salad like things, and 1 completely for dessert.
The servers are constantly doing stuff. Cleaning, grabbing empty plates from tables, checking drinks. It is refreshing to see.
With two other solid Chinese buffets Much closer to my house (about 5 and 8 minutes away versus 18) we will definitely be back.
Talked to the guy at the counter while taking the picture of the prices. He said it was only slow due to the weather being rainy, and that they have been here for 30 years. I bet they make 30 more easily.
Edit to add: normally when I get home after eating my fill at a Chinese buffet my stomach rebels some for the evening. After here? Just a delightfully full tummy of great food. Will...
Read moreWe decided to go here based off everyone saying it's the best. Upon entering the building we wasn't greeted for a solid 2 mins. Once we were seated and went to the buffet to get a plate everything looked over cooked and/or old. The salad bar didn't look very full and had very few toppings for your salad. Now on to the food, chicken on a stick was like chewing a old work boot except the boot wouldve had more flavor. Rice was very dry and no flavor at all, crab Rangoon had a good flavor but the outside was over cooked so it was too hard to enjoy. After having a salad plate which neither one of us came close to finishing and after the 1st plate which also we left alot of items on the plate we didn't eat. Our server brought us our ticket like she was rushing us out the door. Which I should have taken that as a sign and RAN... What came next was even more old nasty unflavored food, I don't understand how this place has such good reviews because it was absolute TRASH!!!! Im a fat guy and not hard to please when it comes to food but I didn't try 1 thing here that I liked, I won't be making the drive back down there again that's...
