On a recent Sunday we were heading back to Louisville from a weekend in Huntington, WV, we decided to stop along the way to grab first-of-the-day food. A little late for breakfast but a little early for lunch. Noticed the Huddle House signs along the expressway and decided to stop in at this location. We've eaten at a couple other locations and this was right along the way, so it wasn't a hard decision.
This location is pretty easy to get to once you get off the highway. Parking isn't too bad (it was a little packed because it was Sunday morning, but that's to be expected) and we walked right in without having to wait outside.
This place was HOPPING. Every table was occupied and there were a few people waiting, but we didn't have to wait but about five minutes before we grabbed a table.
The staff here is amazing. Yes, it was busy as hell and Yes it was chaotic, but every single person that was working was moving along to keep the food flowing. Servers taking orders and getting drinks, one person doing dishes, cooks making food with a constant stream of orders, and tables being bussed seconds after they were vacated. This was organized mayhem at its best and I loved every second of it.
Our server (whose name I didn't get) was awesome. Even though it was complete madness, she took the time to answer any questions we had and to make helpful suggestions. She then want back into the melee of getting our drinks and taking care of the customers. She tried to bring us other people's orders a couple times, but then she paused and went "Wait, this isn't yours! It's theirs!" and delivered the orders to a nearby table. She was a riot.
Even with the craziness that was this place, our food took only about 10 minutes and was hot, fresh, and accurate. Our server checked back a couple times to see if we needed anything and how it was going, but we were fine.
Should we ever travel this way again I can see us visiting this Huddle House again. The service and the food were great and you can easily see that the employees on staff know how to handle the madness that is the...
Read moreBy far, the best crew I have ever seen in an awful house... If anyone goes in there, you'll see for yourself right away that everyone that works there is a champion!!! I've gone in there late at night, Delirious from the road... With only a few miles left to go to get home... And whoever was working there, the waitress and the cook got me alert,, and home safe... Then there were nights like tonight. There was hardly anybody in there when I went in... But as is usually the case in most places that I go... The place usually fills up pretty fast after I get there... I just tried to get my order in before all the $'s show up... Tonight, they had to call in help... Because it got so busy... Or maybe it was just a shift change and both shifts just work great together... What a team! I've eaten in thousands and thousands and thousands fast food joints, and yes even the original awful house in Nashville Tennessee right across the slab from the Grand Ole Opry House and the Nashville Palace... Where I was a "palacite" for over 11 years... I went in there depressed as hell tonight... After a couple hours, talking to the waitress's, The cooks, and even some of the Patrons... I left in a great mood, with my belly full, and all coffeed up... I'm almost home now... Thanks to the great people at the Huddle House in Morehead Kentucky... 😎💗💤that's all I got to say...
Read moreWe love the Huddle House in Morehead! It is our favorite place to go because, not only is the food always excellent, but it has a friendly, family like atmosphere. We usually get the breakfast menu but we have also had items off the lunch/dinner menu and are always pleased! My personal favorite is the MVP breakfast which is a great buy and always delicious - twice as much food as a fast food meal and about the same price, and tastes better as well! I usually have enough for another meal or two from my leftovers! My husband loves the Country Fried Steak and the Shrimp Basket especially well.
Along with great food we love the staff. They are always friendly and attentive and our food always comes out hot and delicious. I don't think we have ever been there when Alicia wasn't working but despite the many hours she works she always greets us with a smile and makes us feel like she is glad to see us. She ensures our drinks are always full, our order is fulfilled perfectly, and we always leave looking forward to coming back! It is rare to go somewhere anymore and feel like the staff really care about their jobs but we always feel like it matters to the cooks and wait staff if our food is right and we have a good experience. Because of that we'll be back again and again! Thanks Huddle House for a great dining experience that makes us feel...
