I'd give 5 but nothing is ever perfect. We were in Morgan City over the weekend on the 7th of October to visit our son while he is in training with Oceaneering to be a Jr ROV tech. We arrived much later in the evening on Friday than we intended from Houston as traffic created delays. We arrived around 830pm and we had brought our 2 small dogs with us. There weren't any restaurants around that had anywhere we could have the dogs with us - most of them were closed and we didn't want fast food. We finally found Cafe Jojo's and called to confirm they were open and did they have a patio area where the dogs could come with us. They double checked and management said they did have 1 table outside in a small area outside the main restaurant we could have. We immediately headed there. Once the hostess confirmed the table we were immediately seated and brought fresh warm bread and butter and a drink menu. I ordered the Hurricane Martini and it was OUTSTANDING. My husband always drinks a lot of water and the waitress kept his glass full and brought him a full pitcher to keep it full. That made him extremely happy. We ordered some cheesy bread as an appetizer and while it was good ... it really was just the same bread toasted with some butter and mozzarella. My husband ordered the blackened redfish with some sort of cream/wine sauce and my son ordered seafood alfredo with a crab cake. Both of them said the food was delicious and ate every bite. I ordered a ribeye with mashed potatoes. It was good but it wasn't worth the price for the steak, although it was cooked well. The mashed potatoes needed salt, pepper and butter - they didn't taste like much. We ordered a pecan turtle cheesecake and a lemon berry ricotta type cake to go. The cheesecake was amazing... the lemon berry cake was dry. All is all I would visit again. Probably not with the dogs as the inside looked very comfortable. We were very thankful they accommodated us, quickly...
Read moreI visited my son and his family that live in Morgan City. As we checked the few local restaurants in the area at a rather late time in the evening, 9 pm, we thought for sure we would get to find one that served good Southern Food still open. Each one we went to was closing before 9 on a Saturday night. There were six of us: 1.5 sets of parents of the married couple, plus the couple and a sibling. So there we were starving and really wanting a decent dinner. We literally were about to go see if Taco Bell or Burger King would serve us after being turned away at 3 other places. When at the last minute, my son got all excited and said he had just eaten at this great place on the waterfront...Jo Jo's Cafe. So we called real quick and asked how late, held our breath and did a highfives when they said they were open til 10!!! Not only were they open, but we were treated like royalty, plus it is just a very nice upscale restaurant with excellent service, excellent food cooked by a gracious and talented chef! My son told me he was going to get what he had ordered previously; it was a catfish dish without pasta, you can order one with pasta. So that is what I ordered too, as did one of the other parents. All I can say is, I wish I lived in Morgan City, just for Jo Jo's Cafe catfish dish! It was delicious, delectable, and such delicate flavors and perfectly cooked fish and so well done. I wish I had a jet, I would fly in just to eat there once a week! Thank you to the staff and chef that treated us so graciously, so near closing, fulfilling our every desire. We really can't say enough. I am sure my son has continued to frequent there for that catfish meal! I wish y'all would come open a place near us...we are outside of Columbia, SC, near Lake Murray! Y'all would do...
Read moreMeh at best. Had the veal and it came with mashed potatoes as a side? Who does this? How about some fresh green beans or a small side salad? The meat was pretty good, but had lots of gristle. Certainly not a nice meal to look at. Also had chicken parmesan and asked for fettuccine noodles in a white sauce. I ended up with marinara and some mystery white goop in a cup.đ Your bread is boring and you'd do better offering a frozen grain bread from a bag. Now the bread pudding. Who needs a 1lb hunk of mush? Heres a business tip I wont charge you for. Serve 1/4 the amount, dress it up with a spoonful of whipped cream and a slice or two of a fresh strawberry and then charge 9bucks for it. Maybe drizzle some cheap Hershey's chocolate over the fruit. So all in all, your food is plain, boring, and not pretty to look at. The young girl at the counter was very nice, but mathematically challenged which is not good for your bottom line. Take this review for what it is, I'm being pretty kind, but I'm not coming back. You were open when...
