A Taste of Italy was a great space at the Hudson Inn. The hostess/waitress was very kind and the table sets and dishes were very clean and fancy-feeling. The food on the other hand, felt somewhat lackluster. It shares a kitchen with the bar next door and while the presentation was great, the quality of food prep shows. As seen in my photos, the "bread basket" was a single roughly cut-up roll served with some dried Italian seasoning and olive oil. The creamy chicken soup was the only soup option and tasted heavily of canned cream soup and therefore was very salty. The entrees were much better, with the Grilled Chicken and (ground, not sliced) Sausage Rigatoni well-seasoned and served as a very large portion. The Mac and Cheese was very thin and heavily buttery. It could have benefitted from a rue base to the cheese sauce to thicken it up, or just any amount of flour or corn starch. Desserts were the best course, with house-made cannoli cream that really stuck with us.
