Birds Nest — Restaurant in Morrisville

When I walked into the restaurant, I was immediately impressed. The tables were beautifully set with well-prepared place settings, and coffee cups were neatly placed on saucers atop napkins. The seating was comfortable, and the wait staff was attentive and friendly, providing excellent service throughout.

The menu seemed to be a work in progress, presented on paper rather than being fixed like in some other establishments. Personally, I had no issue with that. It actually added a sense of excitement and anticipation.

During my visit, it appeared that one staff member was training another. Two young ladies approached our table, with one taking our orders while the other seemed to be practicing her note-taking skills. It was a minor observation and didn't affect the overall experience.

I requested a cheddar cheese omelet with Rye toast, home fries, and crispy scrapple. The food arrived promptly, accompanied by our coffee and a glass of water.

Unfortunately, the quality of the food didn't live up to the rest of the experience. The omelet was dry, lacking the rich flavor of butter and slightly overcooked. The hash browns were simply browned on each side, as if they were pancakes, without being properly stirred. Thankfully, I had specifically asked for crisp scrapple; otherwise, it might not have been cooked enough.

Despite my disappointment with the food, I didn't want to write a negative review. I even mentioned on social media that I wouldn't judge the restaurant based on what I had seen on TV, as I had read in another review. While I don't consider myself a culinary expert, or even a decent cook, I believe I could have done a better job myself.

Birds Nest is great. First off, some of these other reviews are saying they don't like the way this place looks and I disagree wholeheartedly. The atmosphere is one of the main reasons why I love this place so much. To me, this place is a restaurant that has been stuck in time and it's nostalgic - there are old movies and shows on TV, music that my parents used to listen to, it's a very cozy hidden gem away from the modern day world of fancy bs restaurants (crowded, overpriced everything, mediocre food, a fake plant wall with neon lights that say something cheesy like live laugh love, you know what I mean) Next, the food hits the spot. 👌 My boyfriend and I were initially trying to find a good steak and eggs place that didn't charge so much and so far this takes first place 🏆. The steaks are big, well seasoned, and cooked well. The last time we came we were shocked to find the steaks were even bigger this time than last. I think they were only $15. And that's the other thing - everything is pretty affordable and you get a lot of food. We always have leftovers to take home. Make sure to come hungry. Birds Nest is a quiet little spot on a busy truck laden street that is a true hole in the wall. It's got amazing food and great prices for the food. Always get for lunch a buffalo chicken cheesesteak with fries. Always made to order and it's real whole chunks of chicken not chopped little bits. Fries are seasoned to perfection and will cook it how you like it. I like my fries crispier and they crisp them perfectly when I ask for crispy fries. I also have gotten the big bird breakfast sandwich which is amazing and they let you pick which two meats you want. The stuffed peppers were amazing with mashed potatoes. My only complaint, which isn't really a complaint, is that the dinner specials are limited so you gotta get there and try them while you can.
