First time trying Mt Asian and I was quite a bit disappointed in the overall flavor. What we ordered: shrimp lo mein, General Tso chicken (white meat), and egg drop soup.
Pros: The shrimp lo mein was pretty good for what is available in the Mount Airy area. We did have to dump a whole packet of soy sauce in there, but it was good and fairly generous portion. The General Tso chicken was also a good amount and the flavor of the sauce was good, however...
Cons: Every General Tso chicken I've had has a crunch factor to it, this one unfortunately was soggy city through and through, which makes me question the freshness of the food. Between placing the online order and arriving at the store, about 10 minutes had elapsed and the food was already ready (it was estimated it would take 20). I got home to open the food about 5 minutes later. I do not think that would've been enough time to let the chicken become extremely soggy which, unfortunately, left me unsatisfied at best.
The egg drop soup also was quite a bit thick (which is fine) but essentially tasted like chunky boiling hot water.
Despite really wanting to support local businesses and Asian families in general, I think I'll have to go...
Read moreHappy to have this restaurant in Mt Airy where I can get actual Chinese food made by Chinese people! You can tell the authenticity by how homey the place is and the family members of the staff that come and go. This place is much cleaner than the last one. The lady at the desk was very helpful and gave some recommendations to make sure I got something worthwhile. Food came quick and was so delicious. They pack a lot of food in the containers! You can tell by the photos that there really is a lot in each container that gets squished down. It's definitely good quantity and quality for the cost. You can select which sauces you want and how many. If you want, you can sit in the restaurant or eat on the nice picnic table outside. Supporting local businesses means supporting local families, so I'm happy to go here as opposed to big chain fast food places. Will...
Read moreI’m happy there’s now a Chinese take out close to home.
Prices were good and pick up was fast. The food was fresh and hot even though I didn’t get to eat it for a little while; it still steamed when I opened the containers.
It was definitely a little on the bland side as others have said, but not bad. I think maybe they need to use a different kind of oil to give things some deeper flavor. The egg rolls were small and could use an upgrade. I got a chicken and broccoli meal and the chicken portion was good and the cuts seemed like a tasty blend of white and dark meat, and there was plenty of sauce on the meat. I liked that you could take your own sauces when you pick up, so you can get enough of what you want and not waste packets you never use.
There’s room for improvement, but overall a solid...
