I am leaving my review based on the catering that Big Jon's offers. We had an event for about 100 people in Mt. Carmel and were very pleasantly surprised by the variety, price, taste and presentation of the food. They offered much more than your typical canned veggies and fried chicken catering (although they may offer fried chicken too, and I'd imagine it would be great).
Brenda worked with us to make sure that we had a great variety of items available for our guests and everything tasted and looked amazing. She took care of the food display, and in the planning phases, she offered up some great ideas on what food we should offer. We ended up with veggies, cheese, sandwiches and fruit and some very happy guests.
I would use Big Jon's again for just about any event we'd have in Mt. Carmel, Albion, Princeton or wherever they're willing to deliver. And if catering isn't your thing, I can attest that my family things the restaurant is pretty...
Read moreThe problem with this place is, they are never open, and by the time they do open, most of the breakfast hours are over. So many times I have wanted breakfast and they are clised. They don't open for breakfast until 8:00 and by then most people are at work. When they bouught the place from the old owners you could get breakfast at 5:00 in the morning and you could not find a place to sit. It takes awhile fore people to know your open, but the food and service is great, gor they are a great family to do business...

It is a pretty small place but I'm sure that's part of what allows them to give such personal service. The owner visited with every table while we were there.
The catfish sandwich was very good. Crisp batter and tender white on the inside. The lemonade was also very good!
Well worth the trip to Mt Carmel. Be sure to check the times...
