I walk in and I'm hit with this smile from a lady that works there... I mean her smile pummeled me with happiness. She cheerfully asked me, "how's your day?" Of course I gave some run off the mill, off the normal script answer, "living." She smiled some more and said, "great! Eating in or out?" I turned to scan the place. The quaint little eating area of about 6 tables, of which 3 were taken, looked clean and ready for me... "I'll eat in, thank you." So I stepped over to the fridge where I saw some Mexican Coke, Jarritos, water bottles, and other beverages ready for the taking. I snatched some of that orange good good (an orange Jarrito), sat myself down and waited. A little bro walked up to me and asked, "do you want salsa or hot sauce with your chips?" I contemplated for like a good 10 seconds and told the little 11 year old, "hot sauce." He grabbed my stuff and dropped it off. The hot sauce made me sweat like a 16 year old looking at a young Jennifer Aniston (or current Jennifer... She looks the same): twas a good sweat. Then a big happy bro, like 30s something 6 foot 20 inch giant took my order of two brisket tacos. He was professional and so happy. I swear to God it was the most professional waiter at a small Tex Mex place I've ever had. Oh, by the way, while I was getting my order taken, I saw the little 11 year old bro being taught about money by his mom (yeah, you can see the kitchen and cooks)... I thought that was cool.
Anyway, I digress. As I waited for the tacos to come out I saw some jewlery was for sale on the wall. It was cute. Nothing I would buy for the women in my life, but it was nice. The tacos came out...the moment I've been waiting for...the moment I dreamt of from the moment I saw this place open (like 15 minutes before). I fell in love even more. The brisket was DELICIOUS. Ugh. It melted. The taco wasn't messy. It was SO GOOD!
I'm going back. Tomorrow (probably not). I'm definitely going back (for...

As I write this, I am currently digesting one of their massive brisket burritos. I am full. I am happy. And I can feel the itis creeping on.
Let me start by saying, this place is legit. Like as legit as you can possibly get. And I love that this little known gem is hiding in my town about a 2 minute drive away.
I've only ever gotten their brisket burrito but that's all I need to know that this place is 100% authentic. The meat is beautifully seasoned/marinated and perfectly cooked, the rice is fluffy, the beans are somehow velvety and juicy but not dripping and soaking the tortilla, the tortilla is soft and massive yet sturdy, the pico de gallo is light, bright, fresh, and flavorful... it's the perfect burrito.
I ordered through Doordash and had a small discrepancy (they prepared a burrito bowl rather than a burrito).. not gonna lie I was a little upset so I politely called and inquired.. They apologized profusely and offered a refund and a little extra for the mishap, to which I denied because.. burrito bowl for lunch at work sounds amazing, so I kept it, reordered and man.. let me tell you they made it riiiiight right right. Not just the burrito I ordered but two identical, pristine, massive burritos. They also included some of their churro bites, some chips, salsa and a Lime Jarritos soda.. on the house.
If that's not customer service AND retainment, I don't know what is. Thank you Ma and Pa for always showing up and showing out!
2 stars for atmosphere because there's no interior seating but the outdoor seating is very nice on a warm and breezy spring...
Read moreSon has been in NJ for almost 2 years and found Ma & Pa’s a year ago by someone’s recommendation. He has since raved about this place. He treated me to birria tacos while I was in town visiting for the holidays. Omg, it was exceedingly far better than expected! Such a fascinating unique culinary experience…flavor & textures du jour. Well-spiced and marinated tender brisket with chewy Mexican cheese wrapped in a slightly marinated semi-crunchy (non-soggy) corn tortilla with the accompanying dipping au jou was to absolutely die for! One of the best Mexican food items I’ve EVER had, nothing like it…and I’ve had a lot, especially coming from California. It had also been a long time since I had good Mexican food (living in western NY for the last year). No offense, Midwest to East Coast, but not a lot of good solid Mexican restaurants in your region. So to say this was one of my best cultural food experiences says a lot. I’ll be looking forward to more visits just because of Ma & Pa’s. Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it! If you’re a first-timer, don’t hesitate, run to this place! Oh, and the tortilla chips are second to none!
It’s a little walk up establishment with outdoor seating (better suited for warmer temps) but don’t let the small tucked away place fool you. Recommend ordering ahead since made-to-order excellence takes time. They’re a small business that determines their closing time based on customer demand, so calling ahead is also recommended. Better yet, keep up the demand so this awesome find flourishes and satisfies our cravings for a long time to come. Happy...
