I came in with two family members today around 4pm, the restaurant was empty besides two ladies in a booth in a different area of the restaurant. The hostess was kind, but our waitress was not. I don't recall her giving us her name (dark brown hair, glasses). From the moment we were sat she seemed very unintereste, perhaps miserable and as if us being there was an inconvenience to her. Myself and another family member ordered Miso soup, which came out fairly cold. My sushi was good so I will give them that, but the waitress checked on us a total of one time. Never offered drink refiils even when the drinks were practically empty. She was inattentive even though there were only 5 guests in the entire restaurant, and she was only serving 3 people, myself and my family. As we finished up our food, we asked for boxes, and after she sat mine down on the table, she proceeded to take my plate from next to me, so it's not like I got to take it home. We then ordered mochi for dessert and it was terrible. When she brought it out she then took our SILVERWARE. Mochi is ice cream, it was topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce even though we ordered mango mochi, which had an awful flavor. I truly am hoping the server I am reffering to is not having some sort of crisis in her personal life, because the way she acted led me to that conclusion. I have worked in a restaurant and eat out a good amount, and have never had a server be so unresponsive and annoyed simply at the presence of a table of 3 people. Genuinely I hope she is okay in her personal life, but the service was deplorable, and she should be retrained. The music was also very explicit with cuss words and I am guessing it's because there were only 5 people in the restaurant, but it was very...
Read moreNEVER had an issue here, food has always been top notch! A step above the rest. But tonight, Thur the 23, 7:30-9:00 things were definitely amiss. I always get the softshell crab and it came out looking and tasting spectacular, so I was looking forward to the usual great meal! From there it went horribly downhill. The salad was literally 100% pure blue cabbage and you couldn't find a piece of lettuce or any other ingredient if your life depended on it. I sent it back and asked for another explaining what the issue was. How did it come? The EXACT same thing. To make it worse, the ginger dressing was not up to their usual standard as well and it definitely had an off taste! Tad on the nasty side off taste. Had my wife try it to make sure she agreed. She said it tasted weird as well. But because it came out twice with nothing but blue cabbage I sure hope they haven't changed what they think a salad is supposed to be but it tasted horrible. I then got the fillet mignon and shrimp hibachi. My standard meal. I don't know what they served, but it definitely was NOT fillet mignon! Tough, chewy, like eating a piece of leather, was more like a piece of cheap sirloin they were trying to pawn off on people hoping they don't know the difference! The shrimp however was good. Then to end it all, my wife got sashimi and she ate a couple pieces and laid it back down. Definitely not fresh. Off smell and off taste. They definitely got some issues they need to address. I don't know if it's a different chef or a different manager or a different owner, but it's definitely different food and different quality! Very letdown as I eat there frequently. I'm gonna wait a few months this time and see if they get it together and I will give them...
Read moreMy ramen is empty. Which is how good ramen should be seen, finished. The pork ramen at Fuji is almost a great bowl of ramen. Salty white broth with a sweet finish and hit of crab offering an homage to the local faire. The pork and egg are where it loses sight of the perfect note. The pork unfortunately was fried crispy to the point where it had no flavor. Thankfully the broth rescues it and helps overcome the pork shortcoming. The eggs were overcooked but being "soy eggs" they have that lovely Carmel color and flavor to them but lack the creamy inside and kills the joy of a great soy egg. If not for the broth saving the whole dish this would be a different message.
On a winning note loyal follower know that I am always in search of restaurants that cater to my wife and her intolerance of gluten. So finding a Japanese restaurant that offer gluten friendly fare is the best thing since Soy Eggs in ramen. Cause it means I can eat here more often. She ordered and really enjoyed the hibachi soy free (hint it's where they hide the gluten) and for that alone we will come back and attempt the ramen again.
Fuji make a note of it on your website or in your menu. Yes dear patrons of gluten free living we support you. We would have been voting Fuji like we lived in Chicago early and often. So wear you options like a proud mama koala bear and let us all know. Please I need more Ramen in my diet. And fix the...
