La Fuente Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

I've wanted to try this restaurant for a while now, mainly to compare it to the other Mexican restaurants in town. Mt. Vernon is home to like 4 or 5 Mexican restaurants, and I only like one. I was hoping to add this one to my like list, but sadly I can't recommend it. The restaurant before was called Guero's, and it was amazing; it was sad to see that they were leaving and La Fuente was replacing them. I mostly order the same thing at all Mexican restaurants, and I got their Chori Pollo. At most other Mexican restaurants, they normally season the dish, not a La Fuente. There wasn't seasoning on anything. But however, their rice was good. The portion sizes were excellent. And the staff was really friendly. It's just their food didn't taste all that good. This place is in the location of the former 9th Street Grill...so it is in a quaint spot. Brick and mortar, two story historic building. Fantastic set up.

Parking right in Front of the building on the street. There is city parking lot across the street, less than half a block north.

Service is fantastic, attentive, and friendly - they get it. And, they apreciate their customers, it shows in the up keep of the place - clean and neat, food - is fresh, and service - attentive but not overly done.

A feature I appreciate - it is dimly lit, so it is relaxing...no bright lights. Just nice soft lighting.

My first time there. Idk how I had never noticed this restuarant before. Somehow I did and drove back around the block to stop in. I walked in & asked for a to-go menu. They didn't have one but allowed me to walk out to my car with a menu.

I walked back in, placed my order with the Hostest. She wrote my cell number down, called me when my food was ready (which was in 20minutes), hot food was separated from cold toppings, chips & salsa was in the bag.

We made it home, added toppings to our plates; which were larger than had expected and it was DELICIOUS...

I will definitely be going back!

Polite staff, food was served in a timely manner, and large quantity. Couldnt have asked for a better first...
