Laurie's Kitchen — Restaurant in Mulvane

When entering, the place is larger than it looks which got me excited. I was hoping we found our new Saturday breakfast spot! The seating area was clean and the seats had no tears. We were told to have a seat in a booth. We sat down in what looked like new seats... Problem 1: felt like sitting in a seat made of 2x4s without the butt part; very uncomfortable.

The waitress (i think the owner) greated us (calling us "sweetie" and "hun"-- pet peeve ) and promptly got us some coffee. Problem 2: coffee was served from the standard farmer bros pot but was so weak (brown water) i questioned if they reused grinds or if the just used different coffee. It was terrible, i had to drink it black to taste any coffee (something i almost never do). They did have "splenda" (not splenda: too granular and not sweet- probably stevia)

They had a buffet upon looking at, I immediately rejected the idea. The bacon was thin and balled up mass cooked with what i assume were onions. It was wedged in the back room the was inconvenient to get to as anyone sitting in that room blocks access to the buffett.

I had a standard pancake, bacon and eggs meal. My wife had rggs hashbrowns toast and ham. She enjoyed her eggs (over easy), i disliked mine (scrambled); tasted like oil and was like a omlette with no ingredients. My bacon was very thin and bland and the pancakes were still white on one side. The toast my wife and I shared had so much butter it was nauseating (soaked the bread).

As I am reading the other reviews, I see that their ceiling has had a problem for a long time. My daughter heard good things about this restaurant and we decided to go in and eat, it was very disgusting, very dirty I was scared that the ceiling was going to fall down on our heads. I ordered eggs over medium and they came out wet and slimy so they took my ex back and gave me two new ones not really medium but I went ahead and ate them. The booth we sat in was wet so I'm assuming that the water was coming out of the ceiling to fix it, they put up pink trash bags it's not going to hold. They have two dogs running around underneath the tables it would have been a tragedy if we would have stepped on one. Also the owner was out front talking with some people as she's drinking alcohol at 12:15 in the morning, I'm not one to judge but if you're going to drink maybe keep it out of the family setting out front? Service was okay we had to go up to the cash register to get our ticket. That was really hoping for a great place to eat with good food but I will not be back even if they get all of their ceiling fix the dust cleaned up air conditioner fixed and that owner stops drinking. This is all just my opinion about the alcohol if she wants to drink that's fine but don't bring it out...

Menu prices do not match what's charged. My wife and I stopped in for lunch, we'd not been in for awhile. We found out the soup of the day was their excellent Potato Soup. On the menu it states $5.00 for a bowl and add a grilled cheese for $2. Seemed a good deal for $7. My wife and I ordered 2 bowls of Potatoe Soup and 2 Grilled Cheese, should be a total of $14 (we had water to drink). As usual the food and service was excellent. When we got the bill it was 2 bowls of soup $11.98 and 2 Grilled Cheese $11.98, for a total of $23.96. I mentioned the discrepancy to our server who was acting as cashier. Another young lady stepped up to say they were waiting for food prices to settle and haven't changed menu prices yet. If the menu prices are that much of a difference the server needs to mention this when order is placed. I was expecting a $14 bill plus tax and tip. I got a $23.96 bill plus tax and tip.
