Let me start off by saying I used to frequent this place regularly, starting back in the days when Mikey was still bartending. When Mikey left to pursue Only Child, I was worried since he was a big reason why I would frequent the place (along with the food, atmosphere, etc..).
Fortunately the new bartender Jace was fantastic. As much as I hate to say it, he was better the Mikey and made me feel more at home when frequenting Park Street. I kept going regularly, looking forward to the constantly changing specials and soups.
Well I don't know what's been happening lately, but the food specials are constantly the same. They are down to 1 soup of the day. The "new" menu is the old menu plus 2 or 3 news things. There is a new owner that sits at the end of the bar, where all he does is eat, drink, stare at people and micro-manage the staff. It makes the bar a very uncomfortable area to sit in now and I found myself going there less and less since this new owner started showing up to get free food.
To make matters worse, the past couple times I went in, Jace was not there (so I left). I heard through the grapevine he was fired for comp'ing a drink for a regular. If this is the case I will never be back to this restaurant. The food is slowly dying, without Jace the customer service is non-existent, and sitting at the bar getting stared at by an owner while he stuffs his face with free food and drink is not something I want to pay for.
Sorry Joel, I love your beer-pairing nights.. I used to look forward to the specials and soups, but this has all changed. That combined with no Jace and a creepy owner means I'll have to say goodbye. Don't worry, it's no you... it's the rest of park street.
Hopefully Tina G's will be open soon and run as well as Philly G's and Tavern on 60.
------------------------Update February 2018------------------------- New owners are doing a great job. They kept a lot of things from the old menu (like the pretzel crusted chicken), but added lots of new things. I'm really hoping a portion of the menu is seasonal or they have seasonal specials, but so far I'm loving the menu changes. They also kept the soups, which is another plus in my eyes.
They do have some kinks to iron out with the new owners (our service was spotty at the bar since they had the bar tender running around helping with other things), but I'm sure they'll get fixed with a little time. As stated above, I do think they have to eventually find their own identity as far as the food is concerned, but for now I love that they updated the menu without completely...
Read moreFirst time eating at this place and it's my last. Ordered the inca burger and wanted to MEDIUM WELL. They burnt that burger. Also ordered a salad and requested the sauce on the side and they still put the sauce on the salad. Plus for lunch $45 is overpriced. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I'm responding back to the owner. To clarify, the total of the bill was $40. We used a Groupon which we bought for $15 for $30 worth. We gave a $3 tip because I wasn't happy with the service. I wish I only spent $8 but I wouldn't spend that much because afterwards, your food gave me diarrhea. To be clear, when the waitress asked us how was the food I did not respond. I did not complain there because I had already took 3 bites of the burger. That's the first I've tried that INCA burger so I figured that's probably how it tasted but after examining the burger I saw it was burnt and that's where that nasty taste came from. We didn't have enough time to wait for another burger cause I had to go back to work. But I understand your point of view, I didn't give your restaurant a chance to correct the problem I had and I take responsibility for that. I was upset and disappointment that I had to write a bad review. This was the first time I placed a review. So you have to understand my point of view. And to answer your question, besides the burger and salad...there was also the $7 soup. I was off on my total, if I did not have the Groupon the total would have been $43 not $45. So for lunch $43 is overpriced especially after getting...
Read moreThis used to be our favorite place in the summers 3-4 years ago. The atmosphere was great, there was live music, was very nice. I think the vibe is still great, but the food reliability and overall tastiness decreased since then. We normally get burgers, and they are mostly meh every time we went for the last 2 years. One commonality is that a "medium" burger always comes out well-done and kind of dry. A couple of times when we specifically invited friends to go with us - we'd end up waiting for 45 minutes for the food once we ordered, and it would come out Not hot, so feels like there are some operational imperfections that creeped in. Tried more than half of the menu and for us the burger has been the preferred item, Cubano also nice, I think. Empanadas and wings weren't as wonderful to my taste (I was surprised to not like those), we tried a few other things as well, but I cannot remember much on those. The sweet potato fries is mostly very tasty, though a couple of times it felt undercooked. I expect we'll keep checking it out, as we just hope it will get back to glory. Kind of feels like its been much less busy than a few years back, and to me its the unpredictability in quality (and lowered deliciousness overall) - we went around 10 times in the summers 4 and 3 years ago and got food to go many times, and we went down to 2-3 visits per year in the...
