We stopped for lunch on a Thursday. This is a place where you order at the counter and they serve you at the table. I asked if they could make a combination of a chili relleno, chicken enchilada, beans and rice. No. I find it very strange when this type of simple request cannot be accommodated. I ended up with the chili relleno plate and a side of chicken enchiladas. The complimentary chips were crisp and tasty. The salsa was like out of a jar. The chili relleno was outstanding. Nice crisp outside and good flavor with a great onion pepper sauce. The beans were average. The rice was very bland. The chicken in the enchiladas was tasteless and dry. The enchilada sauce was too thick and harsh tasting. Overall, this is a very average Mexican eatery. The dining area is simple and unadorned. Service was excellent. Overall, I cannot recommend when there are so many better...
Read moreTypical taco shop. Was excited that they have molcajetes and even though the $28 price is a bit oricey & about the same price or more than a full service Mexican restaurant with this on the menu, we went ahead and ordered it. This was a mistake. There are many items of this dish that were missing or prepared differently than the picture on their menu, such as the garnishments in the dish and the cheese pieces. Shredded cheese was used instead. The small plate of beans and rice etc is not nearly enough for the molcajete as well as only receiving four tortillas. When requesting more tortillas they said it would cost more. Also apparently when paying for the molcajete with a debit card, the price increases to over $30! When discussing the various problems with this, none of our issues were addressed by the female manager who had a defensive...
Read moreI have seen Alvarados ad on the side of Winchester Rd over the months I travel to Hemet. I gave them a try since the were advertising Birria. As a Mexican, I always measure a Mexican restaurant by their rice and refried beans, the rice was undercooked and soggy, the beans were missing flavor and could use a little more salt. Now for the Birria, it could use a more flavor from the Chile's guajillos and anchos as part of the recipe, I was concerned that I found three sharp bone fragments from the meat which make me curious what cut of meat is used. Overall, the meal was average, not sure I will come again. I hate to be negative, but standard side dishes like beans and rice need to complement a dish not...
