Read moreThe location and ambience are great. We were excited to go and bring a young neighbor kid to watch the planes come and go. He wants to fly. But from the start it was not good. The hostess was in her own world, we had to engage her directly to ask for seating because she didn't even acknowledge our standing at the podium. She looked put out and was non-responsive. We had a dog and were told the patio is where we had to sit -- no problem, always expected and grateful. The patio was empty except for one family. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait. I asked if the dog, boy, and man with us could wait on the patio -- hostess barely uttered a yes. I waited near the hostess desk for our "official seating". An elderly man with walker came in and he was told to wait 10 minutes. He stood there for a bit, had some words (the restaurant was pretty empty), and then hostess immediately sat him. I continued to wait -- no problem -- and then hostess grabbed three menus and utensils and walked to a back empty table. I followed her, but she set up inside near the patio. At this point, with no communication, I decided to just wait with the group on the patio. Then a server immediately came out and admonished us as to why were on the patio without having been seated and literally directed us to wait in the lobby. I told her the hostess said we could wait in the patio because of the dog and the server said we weren't seated by the hostess and we need to go back outside and wait in the lobby where there was "plenty of space". The attitude was militant--and I was just done. Who needs this on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We all just got up and left -- and no one even gave a damn. As I walked out I noticed the Rotary Four Way test placard on the wall and the Object of Rotary. You know, "is it the truth, is it fair for all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships, will it be beneficial to all concerned" -- clearly the owner or management belongs to the Rotary as do I. Well, I can tell you that if anything, the employees don't have a clue and clearly mock this philosophy. As a small business owner in this area, I don't like to hurt small businesses and avoid any negative review. But these employees were so unpleasant, so offensive, and clearly do not want to be there--they are running your business off. I will not go back. Who wants to be treated like this? The ambience and location are great, but not worth another visit. From the previous reviews here, I can see that management must be aware of this problem -- or the behavior is selective and they just ran us off on purpose. The server was too set on verbal judo and the hostess couldn't give a damn because your just an imposition. FVC, you can do better and if you care -- you...
I love coming to the French Valley Cafe for Sunday Brunch located inside the French Valley Airport. I have numerous food issues due to health reasons and can only eat very specific items in small doses. This has greatly interfered with my weekly visits! This past Sunday, I had a craving for one of their great pancakes...right...just ONE! Our server Kathy was so kind and accommodating; she had them make me a plate of one pancake and one scrambled egg. This was my first outing in months; she has no idea how much I appreciated being able to eat breakfast out with my family again. My son usually comes along to take advantage of their great Bottomless Mimosas to go with his serving of French Toast, scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon. Their serving sizes are a very good value for the price and the food is always served hot and fresh from the griddle. Be advised, the waiting time is not based on the fullness of the seating area but on the timing of the kitchen so do not be alarmed if you have a brief wait though there are a number of available seats. This is how they can insure your food is fresh and cooked upon order. Our food always arrives within 10 minutes of ordering. The brief wait is a minor inconvenience but one that helps to provide guests with the best dining experience possible. In addition, there are plenty of TVs playing any number of sports programs so the wait goes by very quickly if you choose to have a seat at the bar until your table is ready.
They also have karaoke on Mondays and 2nd Generation Platters member Jerome Robinson provides live music on Friday evenings. He sings a lot of great tunes from the Golden Era and even takes requests. The dining room fills up for his appearances so plan accordingly if you want to go see him! All of this excitement inside and the airport traffic outsides make this a great setting for a good time while enjoying a hot, freshly prepared to order meal with your family members...
