Sweet Straw - Napa, CA — Restaurant in Napa

We came across Sweet Straw in Napa thanks to its strong Yelp ratings and decided to give it a shot. The place has a clean, modern vibe and a simple, no-fuss menu that’s easy to navigate.

I ordered a Hong Kong Milk Tea with 50% sugar and 0% ice—glad to see those levels were customizable. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives pretty much end. The tea itself was underwhelming. Hong Kong Milk Tea should have that bold, robust black tea flavor balanced with creamy richness, but this one just tasted flat and lacked depth. It didn’t have that signature strong tea kick I was hoping for.

Topping-wise, the options were pretty standard. I was really disappointed they didn’t have crystal boba, which is my usual go-to. With so many shops offering a variety of fun toppings these days, their selection felt limited and a bit behind the times.

The service was friendly, which I appreciated—everyone seemed kind and helpful. However, the drink-making process was disorganized. They didn’t seem to follow a first come, first served system. We noticed at least three customers who ordered after us received their drinks before we did. It wasn’t super busy, so the wait felt unnecessarily long and confusing.

Overall, Sweet Straw didn’t live up to the hype for me. It wasn’t terrible, but definitely not memorable. If you’re just looking for a quick milk tea fix, it might do the trick, but for those who really care about tea quality and topping variety, there are better spots...

No idea why they're only 4 stars, for the price and the quality this is top-tier boba! I'm only reviewing the boba drinks (not the smoothies or other sugary confections) because that's all I've had here, and I'll continue to have here because it's just so darn good!

Compared to boba-heavy cities like SF, Sweet Straw could easily hold it's own against the competition. Definitely on-par (or better) than mainstream boba shops like "Boba Guys".

Yes, it would be nice if they had some minor food options, but if you need a boba fix, and you're in Napa (or just driving through) then I would highly recommend this place! It's easily better than half the boba shops in SF (high bar here), and it's literally the best boba in Napa! (low bar there)

Well upon coming in did not get greeted I did get stared at by many employees. I stood at the front window trying to order for at least 1 8mins tried getting someone's attention was completely ignored. Went to ask another customer how do you order since no employees were helping me . Finally was able to order i went to my payment.went thru and lady just walked off before i was even done. I went to push print receipt And a different lady walks up pushes a button says have a good day . Didnt even.look up at me. Than when i asked her i was trying to have my receipt printed and u just went along and canceled it. She had an attitude so at this point i just told her nevermind i just want my drink so i can leave! I went and waited outside. It's all about first impressions ND customer service.
