Alright, so, starting off with the good
Clean! Was very tidy. It seemed like cleanliness was a high priority, which I appreciate a lot. Tables were clean, glasses, plates even. No dust except on the old things, of which the dust added to the scenery. A+ for the cleanliness. I wasn't worried about getting majorly ill. Always good.
Servers were lovely! Very understanding. Did their very best to give us a wonderful night. (TIP YOUR SERVERS)
Very Very decorated! There's lots to look at.
Clean ish bathrooms.
Cute giftshop!
Now, some of the things that were not super bad but yknow are not great.
It's didn't seem that there was anywhere, disability friendly. The doors were heavy, and the seating didn't appear to have anywhere with a wheelchair spot. As far as I could tell. However, we were seated by the hostess right up front, and as a cane user, it was nice not to have to walk all the way through the restaurant to go to the bathroom or to leave.
On the last note, it was very overstimulating. Maybe it was just a normal Sunday, or maybe not. Idk. But it was evening, on a weekend, so I can't say for sure. Bright, loud, etc. If that's ur thing, then good!
The food... uh, had NO salt? At all. Yes, there is a salt shaker right on the table. However, as someone who cooks frequently; it's very different. The difference between something being cooked with salt and adding it later is vast. The vegetables had no salt, and the fries had no salt (wild); nothing was seasoned.
Except for the fried pickles... thoes were good! Yummy. The pickle part. However, the use of seasoning in the breading was, strange, for pickles. These guys actually are the only thing that DONT need a lot of seasoning and salt. But the use of Bay, Anise, Whole Allspice Seeds, and Coriander is a bit much. Especially with how uneven it was. Again, it is good, but over seasoned - with everything but salt.
Witnessed some miscommunication between the server and the chefs. She was asking for something basic, multiple times, and the chefs didn't seem to care to inform her that it was already done, and they plated it all up at once. The chefs didn't really seem to be paying any attention to the waitresses.
And finally, we ordered the Ribeye Steaks. Mine rare, my loves medium rare. Got them. My plate, with my sides (mashed potatoes and fries), was good! It was rare. But my love cut into their steak, and it was 10x rarer than mine. Meaning I GOT the one that was supposedly medium rare. Which was somewhat mind-boggling. Got it cooked back on the grill for a bit longer, and then It was perfect. I'm a bit concerned with the chefs; did they really think my (my lovers) rare steak was medium rare? And the fact that they got mixed up...
First off I'm a big guy in a wheelchair. We stopped here on our way north because it looked interesting and we were hungry. My partner had read good reviews so we figured we would give it a go. The parking area was laid out in such a manner that I could have been dropped off in my chair fairly easily, but actually parking and going in was a bit of a roll. Inside there was room for me to get to the table they had for us, but no way for me to use the restrooms at all even though there were accessible stalls, the entry hall and doors into the bathroom were tight enough that even if I had a smaller chair I wouldn't have been able to get in.
The server was ok, not amazing but not bad at all. The food however was pretty awful to be honest. I ordered a fancy rootbeer at a premium but was served something else with no explanation why. Our orders were all cold and poorly made. I had a tri-tip sandwich that tasted more like it was made with old sliced meat like you'd see in the cheese isle of a grocery store, then the beef it was supposed to be. My partners patty melt was so bad they weren't able to finish it. My other partner had a porkchop that was all seasoned but very thin with a pile of spiced apples about twice the size as the chop. The baked potato was good and well made, however the roll was hard, cold and poorly made (it looked like it had been haphazardly torn out of a package). In spite of all of this they decided to try a slice of pie each. The pies (one pumpkin, one apple) were mediocre...
Read moreI’m a truck driver. I decided to treat myself tonight been a while since I had a home-cooked meal. I got the ribeye 16 ounce baked potato side of vegetables. I ordered the ribeye medium. It was overcooked and nearly well done. The seasoning shaker on the table was pure salt and had no other flavors to it, which completely ruined my steak. The baked potato was delicious. The mixed vegetables was delicious. The coffee was cold and I had to ask them to make another pot. The corn chowder with jalapeños was good but cold. I don’t understand how you can have soup that’s cold like that. as I ate my meal, the waitress never gathered my dishes as I finished them. She just let them pile up. I didn’t have much room to eat my desert with all this dishes around me. I noticed this on other tables she did the same and for the other tables for the poor bus boy. speaking at the bus boy I know he’s just a kid, but when he was wipe off the tables, he just let everything wipe the floor. I had bread pudding for dessert. It was flaming and hot, and I burnt my mouth. The eggs and the custard was scrambled so it wasn’t much of a pudding at all.
The staff was very young, inexperienced. Maybe a family working together?
I was also charged $2 to use my debit card. Yes. The charge you for using your card. I just spent $65 in this restaurant for subpar food and service and wanted more money.
The locals there seem to like it but if your a trucker passing thru I’d...
