Just don't know where to begin. I'd noticed the location in Naperville & was meaning to stop in for awhile now. Finally got a chance to & I was blown away. I couldn't believe this place served such amazing food right under my nose all this time. Every aspect of good healthy properly prepared food is tended to here. A very nice fellow greeted us & assisted in the ordering procedure, which is very nice as you can choose your food in catagories. Nikki took our order with such a kind delicate demeanor. I had no idea what to expect.* Got the regular portion of grilled shrimp w the half/half grains+greens & garlic herb sauce. Threw on a side of cole slaw. We also got fish n chips which comes w slaw.* Firstly they grill the shrimp beautifully. SO MANY PLACES DO NOT. A nice brown crispy + tangy crust w SO much flavor. The brown rice n quinoa was insanely tender soft and flavorful not bland, cooked perfectly. The green beans & Brussel sprouts were not only fresh but had some crunch because they DONT cook their veggies to oblivion. The spinach leaves were raw and crunchy and amazing. The garlic sauce had a subtle spice to it and I put it on everything. The beer battered fish was white flaky light tender delicious and the fries were SO good w a little spicy crust covered in herbs and had the skin on. Each one had a crispy crunch w soft interior. Slaw is crispy and mixes SO well w everything else on the plate. I couldn't believe the fresh of EVERYTHING, the perfection of preparation and flavor, the AMOUNT of food!! So filling. So worth it. So needed in the restuarant world....the nutrition levels in these plates is off the charts. You can choose broiled or grilled for your protein and leave the fried if you like. So much to choose from. Creative meals, great service, kind people AND affordable!! You will leave filled, happy, healthy and will want to come back. A trip to the Caribbean Islands for some amazing...
Read moreNo other rice options?? Brown rice is TERRIBLE for you! White rice is easier to digest & is a better carb option. The husk/hull of the grain is not good for the digestive track and nutritionally for a complete diet.
UPDATE(because the company responded, snapping back at my review without going to the restaurant): I stand by original opinion. The only option is for a 'grain mix' that includes brown rice. They give options for veggies only, but the quality of the greens is subpar. They are too oily, with whatever cooking oil they use, and are not seasoned. The parts I really couldn't get passed was (A) there were 1.5 Brussels Sprouts included and there should be more, (B) they included the unedible hardened stems of the broccoli, and (C) the vegetables were honestly jusr very undercooked.
Even if you leave the stem of the broccoli in there, if you cook it, it will be somewhat less fibrous. The center of the stem may still be a problem, especiallyif you utilize poor quality veggies or don't trim the inedible portions off.
The cost is WAY overpriced. $13 and tax for 4 ounces of a protein & an inadequate carb side..but hey that's Naperville for ya.
I think that they will see the poorer reviews being a new company and with improvements could survive as a Naperville business. I hope that they do.
Improve quality, options...
Read moreWhen I passed by this place I was immediately excited to try it. My husband and I drove the 30 minutes to get there and it was pretty packed, which was promising. The aesthetic of the place was super cute and matched the theme of the menu items. I will say that there was not a single clean table for us to sit in. We ordered the lobster roll, shrimp tacos and ahi tuna bowl. They were out of tuna unfortunately, so we opted for the special. They forgot to ring us up for the lobster roll, so we needed to go back and reorder after the rest of our food came out which was kind of annoying (and very expensive at nearly $40 for a rather mid-sized roll alone). It was definitely not worth the price. I’ve had dozens of lobster rolls in my life and they always have some big chunks of lobster. This was literally barely filled with some shreds you’d find at the bottom the bowl without a single full piece of lobster. The Hake special was good, not great. The shrimp tacos were probably the best thing we tried and even that was like…why do they come with a random side of dry nacho chips with literally nothing to dip them in? The tater tots were delicious, Ill give them that, but all and all, I left underwhelmed and a little...
