Bon Vue Inn — Restaurant in Narragansett

We live a half mile up the street. It was our first time going because we heard live music from outside. While approaching the entrance, I slightly tripped on the first step due to a back and knee problem. I didn't fall and the misstep was pretty minimal. The bouncers approached and told me, my wife, my daughter and her boyfriend that we couldn't come in because I tripped. I had to explain multiple times that I don't drink before he reluctantly let us in. We were the only people of color and I hope that wasn't the reason for the initial resistance. We spent $30 and tipped $20 (hopefully that discredited any stereotypes) plus bought a shot for 1 of the waitresses who's birthday it was. After realizing that we weren't "a threat" 1 of the bouncers explained that they didn't see my slight trip but that the bartender did and reported that to them, alleging that late night they get drunk unruly tourist coming from other establishments. I informed him that we own a 2nd weekend home on the water right down the street. Also my wife and I drank non alcoholic drinks as I don't even drink. I hope that after tipping that bartender well she will open her mind and not prejudge customers. The band was great The first thing my family and I had a good laugh about were the completely trashed customers on the dance floor that we saw as soon as we walked in and sat down at the bar. Amazing views! Bartender JESS was really friendly. Visited 3 times in as many days as we were staying down the road. One bartender seemed so frazzled and sad I tried to make her smile by reminding her of the view - she replied that she doesn’t get to look at it. The most unbelievable experience EVER happened is when we visited twice in one day- early pm-had amazing time singing with the locals etc. Bartenders were changing shifts - the one coming in seemed really angry so we decided to go to Galilee, even though 1/2 price apps were coming up in half an hour :( Came back to watch a hockey game - we spent about an hour - saw Jess who’m we did a shot with and she actually bought us a round ( we think ) Went to pay the bill - the Angry bartender was still there and she questioned my son on the tip amount - I overheard and Asked her what she said - at this point - she has told us I don’t know why Jess likes you guys so much - did you not like your service? I’m still in disbelief! Who asks about and complains about their tip to their customer? WOW!!! My son then said $5 I should of said $0 We had 5 drinks - left her a twenty percent tip earlier in the day I went to who I thought was the manager he says , this guy over here has more pull! WHAT? Can not believe what I have experienced - honestly . NO COUTH Sad, bc place has beautiful views - people working there...

This is the worst possible bar in Narraganset. I was unlawfully assaulted by the bar's staff because I was standing near a window where some kind of incident happened. I attempted to call to speak to management and "Mike" was very unprofessional and unhelpful. He hung up on me despite me raising actual concerns. He swore at me and you can listen to evidence tapes to support this. I was forced to leave the bar because of someone else's stupidity and when I tried to reconcile with the bar's management staff, I was immediately made to feel as if I was in the wrong.. The manager I spoke to's name was "Mike" and was very unprofessional . He made me feel as though I was at fault even though my roommate and I were targeted as victims. He swore at us and yelled at us and hung up on us several times. He made me feel very unwelcome and I will never recommend this bar to a friend unless this issue is reconciled. I would love to have a real conversation with a real management staff not "mike" who seemed to care more about his own reputation rather than ours and see where this can go. For now I'll wait until I'm contacted by this...
