The coffee connection as it's known locally, is a Narragansett locals institution. I dragged my sorry butt in there as a teen, a hung over college student at uri and now pick up bagels by the dozen for my kids. These bagels are very large and bready and not for the carb counters. They used to have allies donuts but alas no more âšď¸ they do have an assortment of muffins and pastries but get there early. I think they now have ma's donuts which will not do. The staff is slightly surly and incredibly accurate and efficient. Don't screw up the two lines (tourists) get off your damn phone and bring CASH. (Don't forget to tip) If you go late morning you may get a contact high from the college kids. The jalapeno bagels make the best egg sandwiches with lots of ketchup, the sugar cinnamon with butter is a kid favorite but beware because the sugar goes molten in the toaster. I recommend the spinach with veggie cream cheese for the grab and go, everything bagel for a great turkey sandwich. They have a variety of coffee (and iced coffee) flavors but still use styrofoam cups (boo) they also carry newspapers for the old folks and more than one real estate deal has gone down in their tiny dine in section. I think that's it but...
Read moreAny 'Gansett or Bonnet Shores trip is incomplete without stopping by the Coffee N'bagel Connection (preferably as many times as possible.) I've even contemplated driving there in the winter to experiment with their wide variety of coffee flavors. The friendly and efficient staff will combine any flavors, milks, and sweeteners that your caffeine-craving heart desires. (Yes they have decaf too if that's your thing..) Since the array of coffee flavors can be a tad overwhelming some flavors include: irish cream, blueberry, mudslide, and the crown jewel of all of them--Snickerdoodle. Better yet, all of the coffee sizes are INCREDIBLY generous (a Jumbo is about 32oz) and it's all very modestly priced. So if you are desperately in need of a caffeine-fix I would go for the jumbo. And even then it's so good that you'll want to cut your beach day short just to make it back for another drink before they close!
If you're a donut fan then you should also note that they serve Allie's Donuts which are locally-made and raved about in RI! And they fly off the...
Read moreThey messed up my order with the wrong cream cheese and old brown lettuce instead of onions, so i went back in. They were going to throw out the bagels so instead of wasting food, i asked for my money back. Which they did. The employees were respectful, and I was not mad at them for messing up. As i was ready to go, one of the owners came over, grabbed my bagel with DIRTY GLOVES and started rumuging through my bagel. I asked her to stop, which she very rudely replied she had gloves on. They were covered in who knows what. I was a frequent customer. I told her that i went there all of the time but i would not be coming back, and I would tell others not to. She told me to "go to dunkin donuts." I told her this was bad service and left. I am very upset. Instead i will influence many people around town NOT to go here. Cheap bagels because they use...
