Big Jake's is what BBQ is all about in Texas. No frills, no expanded menu to include other items like hot dogs etc, just really great BBQ. Beans come FREE with your meal. I'm all about free. Brisket, chicken, and even the loveable barnyard pig is served at Big Jake's. Just pick out the meat of your choice, or choose a two meat plate when you order. One might think Big Jake's, is only for BBQ lovers, however my vegan wife goes with me for the gigantic baked potato. Huge and good, good, good. I usually order a potato as a side with my meal. Clean restaurant and friendly atmosphere.

Food wise it's your run of the mill average BBQ that will fill your belly but it isn't by any means a place I would search out to go eat at again.

While the food didn't come out cold... it didn't come out piping hot (at least the Mac n cheese didnt) and that's always a turn off for me.

Ribs are decent, not fall off the bone tender but tender with that bit of a pull off the bone. Not a big smoke flavor on those which was disappointing for me.

The loaded pulled pork potato was much bigger than expected and one my kids loved it but again... the pork itself, lacking in that smoky flavor I long for in pulled pork.

I think I eat here more than anyone. So often, I've noticed inconsistencies with the portions, based on who is prepping the plates. Knowing this, I've ordered two large sandwiches instead of one large. With some, you have to take it to go. I think the scale isn't used too often. A year later, I just thought I'd give it another chance. The lady cooking had tried to put sweet potato fries back in the fryer.. it was obvious they were overdone. I carried them to the counter, and the next batch looked the same. I even had another patron give their option, and they spit it out, saying it was burnt. I know staff at this location has changed greatly. They are nice but lack the necessary skills for me...
