Feeling reminiscent of grandma and grandpa? Come on down to the diner that revives every memory you ever had with them....at least the ones where they took you out to eat. The prices are pretty average for eateries nowadays, but the food hasn't changed. This was 3rd visit to Bobola's, my daughter and I have included it in our twice-yearly outing to Fright Kingdom, and not a thing is ever different. This time I had the country fried chicken, my daughter had the fish & chips (not on the menu, as we could see, but our server didn't flinch when she asked for it). Two different gravies (an over-salted, very blonde, brown gravy for the mashed potatoes and a chipped beef country gravy for the chicken) but they each seemed to compliment thier item. My kid loved the cole slaw and found that the fish was okay. The potatoes had no salt, seemingly, but they seemed to work. It wasn't the food that brought us back....we have had the same server each time, and she is a hoot. I am feeling so ashamed that I don't recall her name, I typically make a point of remembering so I can give credit where it's due. My suggestion...not a place I would go out of the way to find, but since you will be in the area anyway (visiting the funest place on earth), stop in and say Hi.....tell...
Read moreWhen we arrived and were seated, I had pretty low expectations. The place looks like a really basic diner. The kids menus were laminated and my daughter was given nothing to color with, which I thought was really strange for a place that describes themselves as a family restaurant. There are televisions everywhere and they're turned to the news. Definitely not my preference at all.
We ordered and they got 3 out of our 4 orders correct, mine was wrong, but not irretrievably so, so I didn't complain. They put tomato on my sandwich when I asked for onion. Nothing major. We had a trainee, so a mistake was understandable.
Our food came out and it was amazing. The portions were huge and the main dishes were cooked impeccably. Their fries were awful, but everything else was delicious. The burger patties were massive and cooked to order, the fried haddock was flaky and fell apart with my fork, their chicken tenders were so juicy and I think hand breaded, absolutely phenomenal. I wish I could have taken pictures, but my daughter had my phone for entertainment.
Overall, don't go here for the atmosphere and don't expect your kids to be entertained, but my god, do go here for the food. The prices were reasonable for everything we got. We'll almost...
Read moreWe went to breakfast at Bobolas at the request of my son and his girlfriend. This used to be the Sunrise Diner years ago on Simon Street in Nashua. We had looked at the menu ahead of time and I'm glad we did because their menu is extensive. I told my husband I was ordering two breakfasts because I couldn't make up my mind and I took home half of each lol (my intention all along lol). My husband, son and I had the Benny omelet which is an eggs Benedict omelet with toast and home fries. I also ordered their blueberry explosion which is blueberry pancakes covered with blueberry compote. Delicious!! My daughter ordered the Elvis which is buttermilk pancakes with bananas and peanut butter. My future daughter-in-law ordered the Cinnamon Crunch French toast which is what is pictured with this post. Our waitress Amanda had her hands full with our crew but she was extremely gracious, expedient in service with a great personality and ready smile on her face. We enjoyed ourselves before heading out to pick out Christmas trees. Great food, homey atmosphere, but just a little pricey for breakfast. But then again I also imbibed in their scrumptious Snickerdoodle breakfast cocktail. For the family, the bill came to $76.08. You...
