I recently visited Empanellieās and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and the warmth of the service. This small, locally-owned spot is a true gem, and Iām so glad I discovered it. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly smile and the wonderful aroma of freshly baked empanadas.
The menu offers a wide variety of empanada flavors, both savory and sweet. I tried several, including the beef and cheese, chicken with cilantro, and the spinach and fetaāand every single one was delicious. The crust was perfectly golden and flaky, and the fillings were flavorful, well-seasoned, and satisfying. I also appreciated that each empanada was clearly labeled, which made it easy to keep track of what I was trying.
For dessert, I had the guava and cream cheese empanada, and it was absolutely heavenly. Sweet but not overly sugary, with a perfect balance of flavors. I also tried their iced coffee, which was smooth and refreshing.
What really made the experience special was how personal it felt. The owner clearly takes pride in the food and makes you feel like a valued guest. I canāt wait to come back and try more varieties. Highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went there yesterday after hearing about how good the food was and coming off a fresh trip from Florida where my wife and I actually had Empanadas for the first time (I know..) The line was long..real long.. to me, this is a great sign. I waited patiently as other patrons did not. It was finally my turn, we were informed that anything in the kitchen would need more time to cook than expected (this is obvious to me as the line is still out the door). I order what I could, 6 beef and cheese empanadas, 2 plates with- pork, chicken, Rice and plaintains. I originally came for a few sandwiches and some empanadas. I also ordered two juices. The food was amazing. The customer service was amazing, it was extremely clean and I will be back once they slow down a little bit to explore more of their menu.
Special thank you to the staff there who were extremely kind and patient despite some patrons...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor a quick weeknight dinner, I stopped by Empanellieās. While browsing the menu, I decided to try the jibarito - a sandwich made with flattened plantains instead of bread, filled with lettuce, tomato, and a choice of protein ($14). I picked the euphemistically named āsteak,ā which turned out to be ground beef that wasnāt even well-browned.
The combination of lettuce, tomato, and simply seasoned ground beef tasted a bit too much like a Crunchwrap Supreme. Fresher and twice the size, sure - but still within that same flavor palette.
Even the fried green plantains, which shouldāve added some texture, had steamed into mild sogginess from the foil wrap, despite me ordering it for dine-in.
Maybe Iāll try the Cubano or the empanadas next time. The jibarito was fine, but definitely overhyped here and on...
