2025 Update We’re baaack!!! They’re back! Decided to give them another chance and thank goodness. Price point went up like everywhere but they cleaned up their game and the food is as great as ever. Making Mexican food great again 😘.
The carne-asada is flavorful and the tortillas are legit.
2024 update Been going here for years but if a place gets me and other people sick more than twice-that’s where I draw the line. Not that good- I’m willing to risk it. Street tacos have never messed me up like this has done the last few times.
We’re done.
So sad-my mom told them we got sick off the food the last time and she riskily ordered our usual, and then 3 of us got sick.
I miss it so much but scared of them as much as Chipotle- not scared so much of a hepatitis outbreak but rather the runs.
I had to move on and out for drive-thru Mexican. 😭
I give it two stars bc I will go back just for the Horchata- that alone is what I would continue to support this...
Read morePretty solid California burritos and carne asada tacos. I liked both the green and red salsas quite a bit. The protective bars across the counter kind of make this place feel like a prison, but it’s understandable. The guacamole is also quite tasty here. Not a bad choice when looking for Mexican in National City.
Update: Been back here a couple of times in the past few months, and have to unfortunately update and lower my rating. I remember the first time I ate here, the burrito was big, flavorful, and filled with meat.
My first time back, things were decent, I had hard shell chicken tacos and my friend has a bean and cheese burrito. His burrito was big and my tacos were tasty too. Last night we returned, ordering a mixed burrito with chicken and a bean and cheese. They were both really small. Like weirdly small. The salsas were good still, but the burritos were just tiny for the price.
Also, beware of the water, it had a faint yellow sheen and tastes...
Read moreThe food is good, however that's where the satisfaction ends. The whole place is covered in steel bars that makes you feel like you walked into a probation office, and there is the overall stench of toilet water mixed with expired lard; almost a cheap plastic undertone to it, and it's not flattering. The drive through is sluggish to the point of a standstill simulation; their prices don't reflect the community in which their located (nor their lack of service either which is upsetting to say the least), they wanted to charge my coworker for a cup of ice [outrageous], and to top it off, their menu lacks many signature items found at most competitors locations. In a pinch, starving, and unable to wait until you leave Ciudad Nacionál, then go ahead, but you'll get some attitude with your...
