During our March stay in Needles, California in late March 2018, we ate at several of the local restaurants. We were looking forward to dinner at the WAGON WHEEL RESTAURANT as I had read several of its very positive reviews online.

My family of seven, including two daughters and three granddaughters, ate an early week dinner at the WAGON WHEEL RESTAURANT. The restaurant has ample parking outside to include large trucks and RVs as well as automobiles. There is a little gift shop just inside the restaurant door. And the overall ambience is that of early Americana. We were seated promptly.

Cindy and I ordered the pot roast dinner to share. And Leslie and Lorrie, my two daughters, ordered the meatloaf dinner to share. My granddaughters ordered hamburger and chicken wings.

The prices were reasonable and serving portions were ample.

Unfortunately, neither my daughters nor Cindy and I liked our selections. The pot roast was exceptionally salty and not very tender or tasty. The meatloaf appeared to be dry and my daughters said it to was not very tasty. However, Emma, my granddaughter, especially liked her hamburger and wanted to go there second time during our two week stay in Needles because she so liked it. We chose not to go a second time as our first visit was not favorable to most of us.

While we chose not to go there a second time during that visit, we would be inclined to give the WAGON WHEEL RESTAURANT another try during a future visit to...

What can I say, EVERYTHING about this place was outstanding! Now I'm Gen X so of course I LOVE old School so this place was perfect for me!! The atmosphere was amazing this establishment was built and opened in 1978. It has the '70s feel all around! This place even had the mechanical horse I used to ride as a kid. All the restaurant Decor was 70's based and older. Even the bread warmer at the line was from the seventies, how do I know this, I used to wait tables and used these exact warmers back in the day! Our server Jamie was so wonderful, attentive, helpful, just a straight-up Delight! I ordered the steak and eggs and everything was cooked perfectly. Medium rare steak, basted medium eggs. Which many people don't get right, basted is a technique that most do not know how to do. My girlfriend had the liver and onions and she absolutely loved it. Now I'd never heard of the city of needles before but I will definitely be back if I'm ever headed to Arizona again. I highly highly...

I’m posting this late a year late but it made such an impression that it needs to be said. Let’s just say…Do Not order breakfast for lunch here 😭😵‍💫 maybe for everyone’s sake, it’s improved since our visit. We were on our way to TX from CA and based on reviews, decided to stop here for lunch. I love getting breakfast for lunch so I was excited to order. I felt queasy while we were still at the restaurant and by the time we made it to our hotel in Williams, AZ (which was absolutely awful 😣but a story for another time) I was in agony. I was violently ill with food poisoning for 48 hours, while having to breastfeed my 6 week old daughter. It was bad enough that my husband wanted to cancel our trip and turn around. I was absolutely miserable but we were able to continue our trip, though it took me a few days to be able to eat again 🥴 Stop for the cute “Route 66 @ Needles, CA” photo op, but maybe don’t stay for the breakfast at lunch menu 🫣 I gave 2 stars because my husband said his...
