Pub 36 — Restaurant in Needville

Have been to this place my fair share of times over the past 3 years, and since I started going it has been nothing but downhill. Prices have gone up, portions have gone down, food is often times bad to mediocre, and wait times are horrendous.

I kept returning because I really enjoyed their nachos as a quick lunch, but seeing as the past 3 times I've gone it has taken me over 40 minutes to get a single plate of nachos and half the tables were empty.

Chips have been overcooked last 2 times I've been, meat was burnt, and had no flavor. And it used to be a sizable portion that could fill me up, now it's roughly 20-30 small chips on a small plate that I can eat in less than 3 minutes. (And I usually have to because by the time I get my food from my hour long lunch break, I only have 10 minutes left.)

I'm most likely never going to return, it seems they have, over the years, slowly shifted to more and more of a bar aesthetic focusing on alcohol sales than anything. If you want nachos, go to Los Charros on main street, if you want burgers, sonic and texas burger will do, for everything else, there is the Jay Cafe 5 minutes...

The Food! Fantastic! Enormous chicken fried steak! Delicious burgers! Draft beers were really cold and Satisfying. We never had to wait for a refill, Bri, was Great taking care of us! The atmosphere is Pub like with a small stage for musicians to play from time to time. Outside patio with a stage there as well. We stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon to eat and had the place to ourselves... Except the bar area. It seemed like a local's hangout. Everyone knew everybody and they were fairly loud chatting and laughing. And I've got to admit, if I lived in that town I would enjoy hanging out there too! 😆. It did get a little annoying for the wife and I so we finished our meal and took our drinks outside to chill under the patio. We've been stopping here for years when traveling through the area and have always loved this place... And we will definitely continue that tradition👍. Prices are fine and and food and drinks...

Can’t tell you how many chances we have given The Pub 36 in Needville, TX, but I think today did it for me. Went for lunch because my husband wanted crawfish which their sign says they have, however it’s only available after 5pm. My son order chili cheese tots and they tell him they’re out of chili, this was at noon, how can you be out? I order Acapulco Chicken, the avocado slices they put on top were brown/black and the rice pilaf tasted funny. There was one waitress for 7 full tables and one bartender with 4 people sitting at the bar. When we were looking for our waitress, she was busy waiting tables and did a really good job and the bartender was sitting at a table playing on her phone for at least 15 minutes.
