We see this place busy every weekend, and we were excited to try. This place is small but able to accommodate quite a few tables. We were there at breakfast on a Saturday. We were early, and there was plenty of seating available. The service was quick and efficient. They have a large menu of diner type items. We only ordered breakfast and coffee. The coffee was good, and they had a bowl with a variety of creamers, including real half and half. Win. We ordered blueberry crêpes, a blueberry Belgian waffle, and a plain blueberry waffle. We also ordered 2 sides of bacon, an over medium egg, a scrambled egg, and hash browns. The waffles were both cooked well. The eggs and hash browns were also good. But, the blueberry sauce/topping was cold, so it was unpleasant to bite into ice cold blueberries. That also made the whole crêpe dish and the waffle go cold. The bacon was not good at all! I haven't found much bacon that I don't love. This was awful, I don't know if it had no salt or smoke or what, but bland is an understatement. The crêpes are not even close to crêpes. They are blintzes. They were thin for a pancake, very thick for a crêpe, and filled. Then, smothered in cold fruit sauce. The filling was tasty, but being just warm made it less than enjoyable. Everything separately was tasty (not the bacon) just not prepared together in a way that made the most of the ingredients. I doubt that we will get up early to go...
Read moreThe chorizo omlette I enjoyed was simply one of the best omlettes in the valley (diner-searching is a regular habit). The colors, culminated flavors/aromas, and how it simply appeared were all phenomenal. The skillet fiancée had ordered was also met with positive comments via both presentation & flavor (many dark-green vaggies; potatoes had good char gradient; etc). Fiancée had not been asked for choice of bread item, and white toast was assumed; she decided the toast to be a favorable substitution, but there was still no initial choice in ordering the item (she simply was not asked if she wanted toast, pancakes, and so on, but received white toast without any clarification). The service was kind & swift, and so I do not think it was from carelessness or rudeness. The 4* rating truly comes from the over-medium eggs, as they were moreso over-easy style in the middle, but overcooked around the edges. The unevened cooking was apparent, and robbed some of the natural egg taste that should be a regularly-practiced industry standard to maintain a simple product experience.
Overall, the time we had spent was quaint and well-received. We will both happily...
Read moreOur visit to Apple Valley Pancake House was a bit of a mixed experience. The boys were excited to try the pancakes, but they turned out to be rather underwhelming. They also ordered hamburgers, which unfortunately didn’t impress them either. I went with the French toast, and while it wasn’t bad, it was just average overall—nothing that really stood out or made it memorable.
Surprisingly, the biggest hit of the entire meal ended up being the French fries. They were crisp, hot, and seasoned just right—easily the highlight of our visit. The restaurant itself was clean and serviceable, and the staff were polite enough, though the overall meal didn’t quite live up to expectations.
It’s a decent stop if you’re looking for something simple and quick, but based on our experience, there are probably better breakfast and lunch...
