Pacific Roots Coffee + Mini Donuts — Restaurant in Nehalem

My daughter and I stopped by for some fish and chips on our way back from a coast vacation. As we were sitting down, a young woman with a beaming beautiful smile came up the steps and said, "I just baked up a test batch of doughnuts, would you like to try some?". That generous gesture started a conversation, and we learned that the next day was to be their opening day. The mini cake doughnuts were delicious. I have always been partial to cake doughnuts, and they are the only ones I will make at home. A little crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and way better texture and body than yeast ones, just imho. There were several flavors, the local honey and sea salt stood out for me. YOU MUST GO HERE if you are anywhere even remotely near, you will not be disappointed. Sorry this post is a bit overdue, Breanna. This place is a must stop along the northern Oregon coast! Their donuts are honestly the best we have ever had. I didn't know what to expect, I mean I'm getting close to 40 and thought I had pretty much experienced all that a donut could offer... Turns out I was wrong... way wrong. These little guys hit your taste buds harder than a right hook from Mike Tyson. They are absolutely divine! Their coffee was fresh and had excellent flavor as well. Couple the good food with an idyllic location tucked along the Nehalem River and you end up with unexpectedly serene coffee and donut experience. The staff is friendly and cheerful, and the owner Kyle is a genuine and kind individual. I'm really not a big donut guy and my expectations were not the highest. But I went there to support a good friend of mine. Well, my expectations were surprised. The mini donuts were the bomb!
