Today I visited Rose’s Place; your average diner to go to for breakfast. There is no parking lot so you must find a parking space somewhere around the building. Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted with happiness and “choose you own seat”, at first I had noticed alot of the unoccupied tables had the remnants of food and residue of pancake syrup left sitting there. When we found a somewhat clean table a waiter immediately wiped it off with a cloth; the table was left smelling of a mixture of bleach and all- purpose cleaner. Our server (Janet I apologize if I have misspelled her name) was absolutely wonderful she was quick to clear our tables and very polite; the menu itself had the typical choices with a variety of different salads, omelets, and food which one would expect to find on a classic American Diner menu. I order French Toast (with whipped cream) with a side of bacon and my two other family members ordered at the same time. To my surprise I was left waiting at the table for my side and my family members meals; our orders came out one by one minutes apart. The food its self was ok at most I had tried my mother’s omelet and to my surprise her side of potatoes were hard and tasted as if they were uncooked. The omelet onions had quite an off taste so did the entire omelet. Furthermore when I received the bill I noticed I was charged two times for the whipped cream. When questioned I was told I was charged twice for whipped cream because of “the amount they had put on” which at most cover the middle of my toast; an average-sized dollop. I understand the rising costs of living; but to charged extra regardless of the item with no notice given prior to was outrageous. Especially a portion size that I was not given the option to decide. Therefore the amount of whipped cream topped on my French toast was out of my control; unbeknownst to me. Upon departure I had to use the restroom and to my surprise the sole (single-occupant) women’s restroom was not up to standard expectations - the toilet had a broken toilet seat, the floor was dirty, overall a unkempt restroom to say the least. Upon departure we were told to have...
Read moreWell I guess you need to be a regular to be treated nicely. Jeanette was our waitress. She took our order didnt write it down, so as she is walking away turns and says you wanted and says 3 different times something and each time it was wrong. So I tell her again what I want. Only 4 other customers in the resturant at this time, so it wasn't busy at all. I asked for extra crispy homefries, I dont think they were fried at all, asked for rye toast got white toast. My husband's bacon was black. She never said they had steak and eggs today as a special, but hear her say it to a customer she knows by name. I asked if I could get coffee with a lactose free/non diary creamer, they dont have anything like that. She had an attitude about that, coffee never refilled. So if your a regular im sure your safe, but if your new to the neighborhood good luck. We will be going somewhere else to be our regular spot for breakfast. First impressions are everything and if it was busy I could understand, but when the resturant has a total of 4 people in the resturant in the middle of the week I think you could do better. I'm not blaming her for the resturant not having non dairy creamer, but the attitude about it yes that iam. Maybe writing the order down would help in getting the order correct. Many waitresses dont have to write it down and that's fantastic if the order is correct. But getting the order wrong 3 times after you just walk away from the table and than the homefries not being done and the wrong kind of toast. I cant put that on the cook, because she most likely didn't even get the order in correct. She brought the order so she cant say she didn't see it. We didn't bother saying anything to her, she was already having an attitude, I sure wouldn't want something being done to my food. So we paid and...
Read moreWe ordered the Spinach Feta omelet and chicken tenders with seasoned fried.
If you like your omelets or fluffy then this is the place for you. My opinion is an omelet should only cradle the food inside and not take away from what is inside. After seeing what looked like a "golden brown" hue on the omelet, I cut into the omelet knowing this poor thing was severely over cooked. Inside the omelet was some feta, but at this point it just seemed lonely and out of place as the rest of the entree was created a cacophony of a dish. The omelet was solid egg, that is not a compliment and best part of the dish was the english muffin.
The better meal was the chicken tenders and seasoned fries, but that is if you like to the taste of old oil. Its hard to get that taste out of my mouth or from your gut. Both the chicken tenders and season fries were cooked well, but they would be way better with fresh or different oil.
I know its a diner and my expectations weren't to high to begin with, but if you are putting good money down at a local place, why not enjoy it. It doesn't take much to correct the items I stated above. The place has a nice location and the food can accentuate its environment or lead you to "walk off" the egg taste on your mouth and the heavy...
