Chicago Mike's Pizza — Restaurant in Nevada

We stopped in on our way through Gardnerville. First time we had been to Mike’s Pizza. We wanted to just sit and enjoy some pizza before we had to get back on the road. When we walked in we were immediately directed to the counter to order because we didn’t know any better. We were directed to a “to go” counter. We waited for our pizza and when it was ready we went to Open the pizza box at our table and eat. We were immediately stopped by a worker and told we couldn’t do that. We asked why. They said because your pizza is to go. We said- actually, no- we were directed to that counter (pointing to the pickup counter) and never asked anything- they simply directed us to the counter when all we wanted to do was sit and eat before getting on the road. They said we would have had to be seated on the opposite side of the restaurant where we were sitting. We asked if we could please move the over to the restaurant side and they said no - that the owner had a strict policy about this. Okay, can we go to the other side and order a new pizza. They said no- that they had strict rules about that. We informed them this was our first time at this pizza place and had no idea. They said we had to take our pizza and leave. They directed us to tables outside where yellow jackets were swarming around our outside table and my son got stung on his calve. Then we had to run to cvs for Benadryl. The pizza was mediocre, the service and treatment was horrible and I would NOT recommend this pizza place to anyone traveling through Gardnerville. Just don’t do it. They made us feel like we were bad people for not It knowing how their pizza place works and that if you want to sit and eat then apparently someone has to seat you- how were we supposed to know that? Before we could even figure it out we were immediately directed to the “to go” counter upon entering the restaurant. WOULDN’T HAVE THAT BEEN GREAT IF SOMEONE HAD ASKED US WHEN WE WALKED IN if we were dining in?...

We tried Chicago Mike's Pizza today for the first time and let me tell you, honestly it was so damn good!! I've lived in Douglas County for over 3 years and always passed it up because usually Pizza places like this are usually over priced with average Pizza but definitely not the case with Chicago Mike's!! We will absolutely be back again and again because the food was so good along with the best customer service in town! Looking forward to trying more from their menu! We ordered 2 Chicago style dogs with fries and a small thin crust cheese pizza and everything was so good! Best Chicago dog I've ever had and the fries were cooked in fresh oil I could tell because there was no gross feeling after eating them. While we waited for our food I looked at the decor and overheard conversations and I think the owner was there with his Chicago Bears jacket on with our server hugging him calling him grandpa and that is when it felt like a genuine family owned place that makes you feel good about being there and supporting a business like this because that is rare these days. I am from Chi-town and really wanted to leave a 5 star review but man they messed up on our pick up order. I ordered 1hr ahead of time and from prior orders they have only needed 30-45 min but I would rather be safe than sorry. Then I let them know my hubby wouldn't pick up until 6:50-7p and then hubby had to wait until almost 7:30p..it was almost like he placed a new order when he arrived. The worst part is they didn't even make the order correctly. When I called to speak to a manager not only did they state no supervisor or manager is on shift but the gentleman that picked up the phone clearly knew which order I was speaking of even though he stated they were slammed and busy then he said on the phone "OMG we were busy." I could not believe how terrible the service was. My husband and I both said we would have gotten a comp meal or something for free but nada. No one apologized..they kept blaming us that the food was late. I have sent so much business there way too! Very sad customer service and blaming customers and trying to make excuses!
