I want to preface this critique by stating that I do like Don Tortaco. It's just that it's really not all that exciting. It is really like all of the other run-of-the-mill taquerias. Just like Roberto's, they show you pictures of the food that you're going to get and it's going to look like the pictures. So the real question is what about the flavor? In all truth, you could probably go home and make these dishes yourself and they would probably taste the same. I want you to think of other fast food restaurants like McDonald's, like Jack in the box, like Burger King. They're not that exciting, but when you're hungry they come through in a pinch. Don tortaco is no different. The staff is friendly, they are hardworking and normally the restaurants are clean. To be fair, I came during the night when there is less traffic so that I could experience them at their best. I got a greeting, a smile, and a valediction (that's when they say goodbye as you're leaving) with a smile - and that right there places them a notch above all your fast food burger joints. However, as I stated before, they are not that exciting. They don't offer anything different or unique as you would get from say maybe a four or five star restaurant. If you're hungry late at night, this place or Roberto's are the places to go. They serve a lot of food and make sure you go home with a full stomach. If you're looking for more than that, you're going to have to go a little bit closer to the strip and hope that you find a restaurant that stays open during the time when...
Read moreUpdate: changing my 3 star to a 1, this place has really fallen. I come on occasion to get a breakfast burrito for my wife with no meat. The burritos have always been a good size, eggs, cheese, and pieces of potato, all mixed perfectly and filling. I just got one and it was the size of a taco for $8. The inside was half the material and hashbrown potato vs normal ones like before and half the contents for the same price. My wife always has leftover but this time she ate it and was still hungry. Do better.
Original review: Insanely inconsistent. I've been coming here about once a month for the last 2 years and I've noticed 2 things. When I come at night and order a burrito it is a normal burrito size, good, high quality burrito. Most of the time when I come in the AM I get a burrito (same price) that's the size of a taco. The last bean and cheese took me 5 bites to eat and I was still hungry afterwards, the tortilla literally wrapped around the contents inside multiple times since there was so little beans and cheese. I guess the moral is, don't come here in the AM because you'll pay $6 for a taco...
Read moreDo not expect good customer service. Ordered food for delivery thru Doordash. Did not receive 2 of the 7 items i ordered. Called the store and spoke to Angelica ... she proceeds to tell me it’s not her fault or issue and that i have to call door dash to have my $$ credited for the items not received. Now i 100% know she can go into the door dash tablet and request to adjust my ticket and void the undelivered items. This task takes all of 20 seconds to perform. She refused to help me and said it was not her problem and That it’s my responsibility to figure out how to get my $$ back thru doordash. So instead of Angelica performing a 15-20 second task as the business representative... me as the consumer and customer then had to spend the next 1 1/2 hours trying to get doordash to refund my credit card. Needless to say as a first time customer to both Don Tortaco and doordash i will not patronize either places until they acknowledge and change their piss poor...
