We didn't stay to eat so beyond entering the building and waiting for our food I can't speak to the prolonged atmosphere. It was clean, empty, and didn't feel or appear cluttered unlike some Mexican eateries; in my opinion, a lot of Mexican establishments have a lot going on decorative-wise (including table & chair placement and quantity) on top of their pictorial menu all over the walls and windows making some of those establishments feel a bit grimy even if they're not.
Working were 2 youngsters and I say that as a literal description - the cashier was an 11-year-old boy and the cook didn't look older than his late teens, so I'd guesstimate his age to be no older than 21/22. Well-spoken, personable, and smiling throughout the exchange, the kid seemed to enjoy working and mentioned he'd been doing so for a year or two; by well-spoken I meant educated and in no way referencing his accent. The kid was friendly and made small talk easily while the other employee seemed shy. They worked well together!
As for the food, well... it wasn't the best Rivas I've ever had but not the worst. On its own, it holds up just fine but I was craving the specific flavoring and texture I get from my favorite location therefore I was disappointed and considered it to be lacking. So keep in mind folks, every Rivas has just minor tweaks from one location to the next, and if you're going to any location besides your favorite, be prepared for minute changes to your...
Read moreI ordered the chicken fajita and beef taquitos for myself and my daughter through Postmates. I specifically said in the special instructions for the beef taquitos beef and cheese only. My daughter doesn't eat sour cream or guacamole smothered all over soggy taquitos. They delivered the food and the taquitos had all of the toppings. When I called to ask for a new one they acted like it was a burden for them and that I suggest accept the taquitos the way that they were. Had this not been for my daughter I would have. After waiting on hold for about 25 minutes they finally said that I could get a new taquito order but I would have to come and pick it up myself. The restaurant is about 15 minutes away from me that's why I ordered from Postmates. Also because I've been cleaning my house all day and I didn't want to go out. Another reason why I paid extra to get my food delivered through Postmates. This is the first time we have tried Rivas Mexican restaurant. We will not be trying it again. Mistakes happen. How you handle those mistakes determines whether you succeed in business or you don't. I guess that's what I get for switching from Roberto's the best taquito maker of...
Read moreThis place has so much potential, when I tried them for the first time I was blown away by how delicious the carne asada was. I'd say it was nearly as good as Los Tacos. Over time, the quality has slid and while their food is decent, on occasion it's pretty meh. Love that they have a drive-through, it's a saving grace on those evenings I have work late and just need something easy. My biggest gripe with Rivas is their drive through speaker - they can never hear me and I know it's not me, because it only happens here. It's been going on forever ... I don't know why they just don't replace the speaker. Tonight they totally messed up my order, I didn't realize until I was home and it was too late....$40+later. I'd go elsewhere if there were better...
