I can’t score the atmosphere since it’s a to go order from the Smiths Parking lot. This review is specifically for the food truck at the S. Meadows location, not the restaurant. In my opinion and my family’s, the prices here are extremely high for food that simply does not match the cost. This was my first time ordering takeout from this truck, and I was immediately disappointed. The tortillas were the cheap, standard kind you can buy at any local market. The rice was mushy, lumpy, and of very low quality. The beans were nothing special—just basic refried beans with no standout flavor. As for the meat, it was bland and unimpressive. To be honest, I can’t justify the $15.00 price tag for what is essentially a large, inexpensive flour tortilla filled with mediocre rice, beans, and meat. The presentation was basic, just a standard burrito wrap with some salsa on the side nothing that justifies such a high price. Compared to other places that offer much better quality for the same or even lower prices, this food truck falls far short. Super Burrito, Taco Bell, El Pollo Loco, and other similar places offer far better quality and a more appealing burrito filling presentation compared to this food truck. We don’t recommend this food truck. Customer Service is fair though at least they were nice individuals when taking your order. After 3 days of posting this review I just encountered a Reno Gazzete Journal article about dining establishments in the Reno area were written up in the last week of February, including four that were temporarily closed. Northern Nevada Public Health, formerly known as the Washoe County Health Department, issues four types of inspection ratings: Look you guys …. This is very accurate, it’s public and you can look it up for yourselves… This is what I mean about this types of places and you can just imagine what the taco truck is hiding behind d our backs. MENDOZA’S FOOD TRUCK 5425 Sun Valley Blvd. Handwashing sink blocked with microwave. Employees were washing hands in three-compartment sink. Microwave was moved at time of inspection to allow hand sink access. Cooked beef on stove at 90F. Operator stated it finished cooking 20 min ago. Beef moved to refrigerator.

I've been seeing videos on Instagram about birria tacos for weeks now, and the more that I watch them, the more they're shown to me. If I still lived in SoCal, this wouldn't be a problem, since basically every video I saw was from San Diego, OC, or LA, but as it is, I was left with an intense desire to try the elusive birria taco in northern Nevada. My searches weren't garnering too many helpful results, but that's when I just happened to go to Taqueria Mendoza doing a delivery. And what did I see on the menu but quesabirria tacos: EXACTLY the thing I was looking for. Now, a couple days later, I made my way back up to Sun Valley to finally try them for myself (as well as a gordita, since the only gordita I've ever tried is from Taco Bell) and let me tell you they did not disappoint. These tacos were everything I'd hoped they would be, and if I'm ever craving birria again, I know where I'm going.

Typically, we enjoy Mendozas. Great food, good service, fair prices but I got an order the other day and added a side of rice and beans. You either have the option to pay $4 for 3oz or $13 for 32oz which doesn't give a lot of options. The cup of rice was extremely small. It costs $2 for a bag of rice so to hike a tiny tiny side for both each $4 each is insane! They also charge for limes and salsa which doesn't happen elsewhere. Even though, it may be good sometimes it might not be worth it all the time.

My boyfriend ordered 2 orders of 2 birria tacos each, both orders with extra cheese, no onions & extra lime on the side. When the lady brought them out, 1 of the 2 orders had extra onions & the other had very little meat & no cheese. He asked her to correct it & she gave him a look of annoyance, then took it back to the kitchen. When she brought it back out again, the one with little meat & no cheese had not been changed at all & the other with all the onions was corrected. When my boyfriend got her attention to ask her why she didn't correct the other one, she said "What's wrong now?" & when he told her there was still no cheese on the uncorrected one, she said "If you want I can stick my finger in your food to show you there is cheese on it." WHO TALKS TO PEOPLE THAT WAY??? My boyfriend decided to just leave because she clearly had no interest in providing us with what we ordered & didn't want to risk having our food spit in. And when we ate them, there was in fact no cheese in that one order. We have been here many times & have had a small issue here before but this was a TERRIBLE experience & not only will we not be back, but we will be sharing this experience with others so they might avoid this kind of an experience...
