As I read some other reviews, I would agree with them, up until last night. I've never been disappointed with a meal at Fathoms, until last night. It started with the fried calamari. The portion was smaller than what we used to get and it appeared that the oil was old because the calamari was overcooked and very crunchy. Certainly not the soft and tasty calamari we've eaten there on previous occasions. My kids were so hungry, they wound up eating it all before we could complain to our server. We ordered our meals. My meal was supposed to come with rice pilaf but I asked for jasmine instead because I don't particularly care for Fathoms' rice pilaf, which is not the traditional kind that I typically eat. Also ordered was the fried scallop dish, again, which has never been a disappointing meal. Before our server left to place our order, she asked if we wanted anything else and we asked for bread. The bread never came. A glass of wine and a pepsi were also ordered. We had to ask for the pepsi because it never came and that's when the server recognized she never brought the glass of wine or the bread either. By then, the meal was nearly over so we just canceled the bread. There were 3 dishes that had complaints. The fried scallops were just like the calamari, overcooked and hard and the portion size was smaller when ordered before. The jasmine rice was served like a big ball, all stuck together and dry (not what I expected). The garlic mashed from another order was cold. At this point we had waited long enough for our meals that we simply didn't say anything to the server because she rarely came back and checked on us. The final order was the molten lava cake, of which I got up, went to the server and asked for a candle to be put in it because we were celebrating my mother's birthday, which was why we went to Fathoms in the first place. We had always told her the great meals we always had. The cake came but no candle. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I finally had to say something about everything and the server apologized and removed the fried calamari from the bill. This was not an overly busy night so why our server was rarely seen and forgetful was disappointing, to say the least. Not sure how long it will be...
Read moreWe came for dinner and we’re given a 20 minute wait time, which ended up being a 45 minute wait… our party of 4, 2adults and 2 children were finally seated (in the farthest corner of the restaurant) inches away from a loud, belligerent, completely incoherent table of 4 adults. They screamed and smashed the table for the entire time we were there. We ordered drinks and appetizers as soon as we were seated and drinks came pretty quickly but our crab cake app and cup of lobster bisque took more than 30 mins, when apps arrived, I asked for the meals to come as soon as possible. At that time, I also asked for some rolls/bread to hold us over. The waitress responded with, “well, it’s going to be a while because they are trying to cook your dinner!!!” Completely disgusted and partially deaf, I was again disappointed. The food finally arrived….. kids got burgers which were fine, they were cooked properly and tasted fine. My husband got prime rib cooked medium, he got a bloody, mooing piece of meat. My steak tips that I ordered cooked medium, were 5-6 absolutely burnt pieces of meat, no marinade, no flavor, just charred. It was 20 mins before our server came to the table to check on the terrible food. I told her I wanted nothing and my husband asked to have the prime rib cooked a little more….. 30 mins later I found our server and asked for the bill, the prime rib NEVER made its way back to our table, which we weren’t even upset about. They removed both of our meals from the bill, but we wanted to go out for dinner. We wanted to spend money and instead we had a terrible time and sat with 4 adult drunks yelling and screaming, had raw/over cooked food that we waited hours for and then a server with a chip on her shoulder who was so...
Read moreThe first time I ate here I ordered the scallop pesto pasta & it was delicious. My sis got the surf & turf with prime rib & baked stuffed shrimp, which looked very tasty! I was so excited that I found a good restaurant and could not wait to come back. The second time I went back I ordered the same thing lol & my husband got the fried clams. My dish was not prepared the same as the first (lacked flavor) but my husband’s clams were fresh out the grease and big bellies. Third time was on the 4th of July. The wait was over an hour but it worked out because we got the watch the fireworks right from the bridge. It was extremely busy but what do you expect m? It’s the 4th. Once we were seated the table was sticky and the menus were dirty. The baked stuffed shrimp taste like the freezer and the stuffing was bland. The rest of the food was ok but not to it’s full potential. Our 5th time was last night . I ordered the blackened sword fish (was not blackened at all) on the menu it says it comes with fresh vegetables & your choice of potato but apparently sweet potato fries aren’t an option so I had to pay $3 extra. My husband ordered the steak tips cooked well done but were still pink inside. Even though we didn’t not get exactly what we asked for, it was still some what tasty. We really enjoy coming here but we are going to give it a break for a little while. Hopefully we’ll have a better experience next time we decide to give them...
