Beautiful night in New Bedford. Three of my friends and myself wandered down towards the cobblestone district. A street concert was going on. My friends and I went to Rose Alley. Rose Alley of course no longer has the roses but it also does not need to cover the pungent smell of whale oil. This New Bedford mainstay was not packed. The gang grabbed seats on the outdoor patio. We could hear the live music from a few blocks over. Our server was Chloe, who was very great! She wrote down our order. My friend had very specific requirements for his burger. Anyways I had a house salad with shrimp and 1 dozen garlic herb dry rub chicken wings. The salad was...drumroll...a salad. Lots of lettuce...very fresh, diced tomatoes were really good...again it was a salad....had six nice grilled shrimp.
But the wings were amazing. Little crisp. Very meaty. Dipped into chunky blue cheese dressing. I mean the only fault was the celery....but drumroll...fake stick salad :)....
The wings are hands down an A. My friends had the boneless. They had sweet chili for one order and Mozambique for the other. One had fries. One had fried pickles. Both gave their chicken tenders A plus. The fried pickles came with no dipping sauce was the only criticism by one of them. My other friend refused to give me a review and stated people should just come there. He must of like it because he was first done. Overall for 4 people with $103.00 tip $128.00. Chloe, the server did a great job by being detail oriented, by being available when needed, and just really friendly. The atmosphere allowed for conversations, not overly crowded...
I give Rose Alley at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really liked this place! Went here with family for a few weekend cocktails and wasnāt disappointed!
First off, itās located in New Bedfordās historic downtown, replete with cobblestone streets and all. You feel like youāre going back in time before you even enter.
The bar itself also has an old, historic, New England tavern look and feel to it. Loads of character.
Thereās a main bar on the first floor, where they also serve food (I didnāt eat) and also have live bands. If you head downstairs, youāll find yet another bar, albeit smaller than the upstairs one. This is where we decided to sit and imbibe. It seemed more geared towards cocktails and liquor than beer judging by what was on the shelves.
I ordered an Old Fashioned made with Bulleit Bourbon. It was delicious and strong. I hate weak cocktails. My family ordered two rounds espresso martinis and similarly loved them (as attested to by the TWO rounds lol!).
The bartender was excellent. Super friendly and funny. Big thumbs up.
I canāt wait to return to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was an interesting experience. Last time I was here was a few weeks ago. I had wonderful service and a great burger. This visit tonight was awful. The food tasted burnt horribly. Everything was cooked wrong. The waitress was cold and uninviting with a blank expression. She waited until I was done with my food to even ask if I needed anything. The guy who was singing and playing guitar was good but the place is too small for live music. The burger tasted like completely different beef. The service was slow. She didn't even seem to care when we complained. Upon asking for a manager or someone in charge she said there wasn't anyone managing working tonight. Wasn't very helpful. They didnt even have regular fries. Not sure what kind of place runs out of fries. Wasn't very good. Think first before going here. And if you see the manager...
