TL;DR - One of the best places in the area.
My family and I have been coming steadily since they have opened and tried everything on the menu besides the salmon and chicken sandwich. Everything here has been and continues to be A+ in service and quality. I am writing this review now because I reheated my 3x3 grilled cheese for lunch and the meat is incredible 4 days later and the tomato soup remains one of the best I've had.
Every month they have new specials and every Tuesday is a "Tasting Tuesday" where the chef owners create three themed dishes. I have never come out of here being anything less than extremely satisfied.
The other reason I write this review is the place does not get the clientele it deserves. I have eaten at some of the top places in the country and have been a trained home cook for a majority of my life; this place would be popping in philly or any city and if you haven't been take a trip. Definitely one of the best spots in the bucks/mont county line area. Went on Saturday night and we were the only table at 8:30. Got the monthly app: "trashcan tatertots" - best tater tots I've ever had and the consistency of everything else since the opening has been very good. I do not understand how this place is not mobbed.
One note I will make is that it seems they use an electric smoker but I cannot confirm. The meat is cooked perfectly but does not have a deeply wood smoked flavor; this is not to their detriment - just want people to be aware it is not a classic pit bbq place in that regard; you will still love the brisket and pork belly.
The one note I would have to the owners is a to advertise better. The only place you can find out about the Tuesday or Monthly specials are on the facebook page (usually specials are not listed in house either) and there are not enough people coming in for the quality of this place. Best of luck to you,...
Read moreAfter a long, chaotic day - with Calypso tracking squirrels like she’s on a mission from the gods and Captain Ajax discovering every possible thing he shouldn’t put in his mouth - I pulled into Embers Smokehouse with one goal: survive dinner.
I wasn’t planning on stopping. I was planning on pushing through, cooking something half-hearted at home, and calling it a night. But life - and hunger - had other plans. And Embers felt like the right kind of detour.
The air hit me before I even opened the door: that unmistakable scent of slow-smoked meat, the kind that wraps around your senses and tells you you’ve made the right call. The place was warm and unpretentious, the kind of joint where no one cares how tired you look - just that you’re hungry.
I went with the brisket platter - tender, smoky, a touch of bark on the edge - and the mac and cheese that reminded me why comfort food matters. I didn’t need to think. I just needed to eat. And Embers delivered something far more than a meal. It was relief.
The staff didn’t rush, didn’t hover. They let the food do the talking, and it spoke to me like an old friend who knew I’d had a long day.
Would I come back? In a heartbeat. Sometimes, it’s not about the five-star gloss - it’s about finding a place that grounds you after a day that nearly swept you off your feet.
Pro tip: Get the cornbread. Thank me later! Delicious is an understatement!!

Read moreI was not impressed with the food. I understand that nearly every restaurant is short staffed, especially on the weekends. However, after waiting over an hour for appetizers, the food was served luke-warm. We ordered the poutine, which was not enjoyable due to not being hot. We had to quickly eat it before it went completely cold. It's very clear that our apps were sitting out for a long time. I'm unsure why they were not brought to us. Perhaps a mistake on the waiter's end. We waited another 30 minutes for our meals, which were not worth the nearly two hour wait. I had the ribs with a side of Mac and cheese. The ribs were decent, but the Mac and cheese was flavorless. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles. He could not eat the chicken because it was so bland. We did not complain in person because we were exhausted from a long day of work and needed to conduct an interview after dinner. We did not want to wait longer for corrections and we did not want to over-burden the already burdened staff. Many tables around us waited just as long as we did, if not longer for their meals and were also becoming fed up. I'd like to reiterate that I understand that it's difficult to turn out food in a brand new establishment that may be understaffed and packed with new customers. However, the lukewarm food and blandness of staple foods was highly disappointing and absolutely not worth the...
