I had the worst experience at Kasia Bakery. I walked in on a whim, hoping to try some of their offerings, but I left feeling unwelcome and utterly disappointed. The place was crowded, and I patiently waited in line, observing Polish-speaking patrons order from both the front counter and the back rack without any issues.
After waiting for about 10 minutes, I decided I would try some of the cake as well as a few bakery items from the back rack. However, when I asked for a piece of what looked like a delicious cake, the woman behind the counter flatly told me, "Not for sale." Confused, I assumed there might be a language barrier, so I asked for another item from the caseāone that I had just seen two different Polish-speaking customers order without any problem. Once again, I was told, "Not for sale."
It was clear to me that the good items were being reserved for Polish-speaking customers only, and I felt incredibly unwelcome and unwanted. As someone with a Polish background, itās heartbreaking and shameful to witness such discriminatory behavior. My father was raised by Polish parents, and I grew up hearing about the pride and warmth of our heritage. This experience at Kasia Bakery, however, made me feel nothing but excluded.
I ended up walking out and going to Rolly Poly Bakery right down the street, where I was treated with kindness and enjoyed some delicious Polish pastries. Kasia Bakery needs to reconsider how they treat all their customers, not just those who...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went next door to pick up some spices and as I was walking by I saw the bakery. I had 6$ in change left because my only goal was to get the spices. I walked in regardless because 6$ can go a long way in a bakery. I asked for one cheese danish and nothing else because their were no prices. She gave me a LOOK and said "just one?" in a rude tone. ( by seeing the reviews I see they get annoyed if you don't buy more than one). I saw a blueberry piece of pound cake and took my chances. It was 6$ so I told her then just the danish. She did not like that. She rolled her eyes and (whispered) said "total 1.60". It's fine they do not speak english but they don't have to be rude when I can't understand them and they whisper everything they say. The danish had a weird filling. It did not look creamy it was more like a cottage cheese texture. Tasted fine with very soft bread but because of the filling I did not finish it. Also saw in the reviews that a bakery is down the street and nicer. I will be trying that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff is rude and most of the goods not so great. After standing in line for a half hour they started helping someone four or five people behind me who wanted to change her pre order for two babkas to another day. When they finally decided to help me they did not have what I wanted so I asked to order it to pick up today. They told me that I could not order just one. I asked how many I has to order and they told me 15... when I asked why the lady behind only had to order two the girl just shrugged her shoulders. I might add that this entire conversation was in Polish so it wasn't like she didn't understand me. I left and proceeded down the street to Roly Poly where the staff was most pleasant and helpful and the items less expensive. Never again will I set foot in Kasia Bakery. I would have rated a...
