We love coming to here! But this season, we’ve been twice so far and have had nearly the same experience both times (solely regarding the waitress). After the first time, I decided to pay attention to time/our experience the second time around our of curiosity. A bad day, or her normal service?

Once we parked, we were greeted fairly quickly (young, shorter, brown haired girl)! We got menus and started deciding what we wanted. After 6 minutes, our waitress came and took our order, and we paid for our food. But to tip from our card… we had to tip before she provided service (when both times were not up to par for us or the other cars she was attending to, we’ll get there). While we waited 29 minutes for our food (two coneys, poppers, fries, two plain hot dogs, four fountain drinks) to be brought out, we watched other people have the frustration we had during our last visit. (To add, the wait was expected as they were busy!) The waitress not coming back to check on her cars after she had given them their food. Two different vehicles visibly upset they had to exit their car to put their tray at the window so they could leave. We waited for our food to come out, and it was great. Our buns were very soggy, but I’d assume it’s expected when you order a coney? We spent 18 minutes eating. We finished eating and put out trash on our tray. Our waitress never returned. We wait 15 minutes and she made many walks out and never even looked our way. Also frustrated, we exited the car and took our tray to the window as well.

While we waited, we watched the other waitress working (brown hair, hoop earrings) tend to ALL her cars and within a timely manner! None of them having to exit their cars. Taking their trash, even refilling someone’s drinks! She even took the trash out of the can, AND came to our car before we left and asked if we needed anything after seeing us take our tray to the window. She was so fantastic! If we had cash, we would’ve tipped her. Next time we visit, we’ll tip $0 on the card and tip cash after service has been provided! Because the second waitress 100% deserved it. She was working so hard, fast, was kind and always had a smile...

Food was fine. Ate then go to order a root beer float before leaving. They act weird if you go up to the window to order food like they want you to sit at the table and wait for a person to come out instead of just taking the order. Had our server come back out and checked on us like she said she was going to I would have told her I wanted a flute but she never came back out I wasn't going to stand there for almost 10 minutes and wait for her to come outside to ask me what I wanted. I ended up leaving without the float. And then after looking at the receipt that's when you find out why you paid $23 for two footlongs and an onion ring. They also charge you a dollar a piece for small Waters. Which they also didn't even mention. They charge you for all of the toppings and don't even tell you! None of the price charges are the same 80 cents here, 45 cents here and 50 cents there. If you're going to charge for cheese and onions and mustard that should be on your menu or you should at least verbally tell people that at the table while you're asking them what they want on their coney. Nowhere does it tell you that they charge you for every single topping you ask for on the Coney. They also charge you for mustard that they do not put on the Coney and have available on the counter. When you get onion rings you're assuming you get a sauce right? They ask you if you want to sauce but they don't tell you that that sauce is going to be 50 cents more. What is the point of asking if we want to dine in or take out if you're just going to put all of the food in a brown paper bag and take out containers and staple it shut anyway? So you can charge us the dine-in fee too? If you're looking for a good old American hot dog stand don't stop here! They should change their name to Wot a Scam... Won't be back and won't be recommending. Just go to Jollys taste better and there isn't 7...

I don't really like to give bad reviews but in this case I feel like it's my duty to warn people about how awful this place is. My first visit I ordered a burger from their specialty menu and was super disappointed. Basically everything we ordered tasted bad. So my family comes in town and they all want to go to Wat a Dog so whatever, I go. My father orders the famous Rebel burger and he couldn't even stomach one bite of it. So he asks the waitress about ordering something else because it was awful, she said she would ask the owner (who apparently made the food) and comes back and politely says that the owner wouldn't exchange it because he made it just fine and if he doesn't like it, too bad. Whoa! So I ordered a foot long coney this time because I knew not to order one of their strange tasting "mystery meat" burgers. I pretty much love any cheese Coney from just about anywhere but the Wat a Dog cheese Coney was terrible. I ended up having to scrape off the nasty chili just to eat it. The entire family agreed that we would never come back to Wat a Dog ever...

Been coming here since I was a little kid since they've been around longer than me. The place is very well known locally and has changed ownership several times over the years. Thankfully, the current owner has done an excellent job of bringing the place back to its former glory along with being open to trying new things to keep things fresh. They've always been best known to us for their signature foot long coneys and draft root beer. Anytime we're back home visiting family we have to stop if it's within season. The staff are excellent and it's rare to find any legit drive in places anymore but if you're in the area or close enough during the summer season, we highly recommend checking it out!

Pretty good little spot. We had the foot long, dog house burger, the pizza-dog wich, fried mushrooms, regular root beer and a red cream soda float. The pizza sandwich was pretty plain, just like some bread with 2 hot dogs, a small slice of pepperoni, little bit of sauce and cheese, that's it. 🤷‍♀️ The foot long, burger, mushrooms, and floats were all pretty good and we'd get again. Service was quick and pleasant also. Love that they have car window service or you can park over on the side and they have a covered patio you can sit and enjoy food outside.
