Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in New Castle

There is something wrong at this location. The salads and chilis came out after the entrees, and only after asking about them a couple of times. And when the entrees were brought out, the cheese that had initially melted on the burgers was back solid again, and the meat was just lukewarm, which means they likely sat for 10-15 mins somewhere. There were enough staffers, but something was definitely wrong with how it was all working, and when the food starts out cold, and the fry portions are off - my daughter's kid's meal came with 10 - yes only 10 fries - the quality really goes down for what should be no trouble, "this is what we do all the time and we're good at it" stuff like burgers and fries.

Yes, we could have sent everything back to get warmed up, but if they sat there with little attention their first trip through the kitchen, what real benefit would there be to sending them back in? From past experience, if a simple hamburger is cold to start with don't even try to get a rewarm, because it won't end well.

We're used to glacially-slow wait times at Steak and Shake, those aren't the issue - they ARE an issue likely, but we long ago chalked it up to the S&S way - but when the slowness also means everything sat for a long time, that's disappointing. Don't even get me started on the lack of diced tomatoes on the salads because they were "out of diced tomatoes" - I saw tomato slices coming out of the kitchen, AND I'm pretty sure there's a knife in the kitchen somewhere, so really they are out of motivation, not out of diced tomatoes. Or, to give the staff the benefit of the doubt, there could be some incredibly asinine corporate regulation about there being no dicing of tomatoes that aren't already diced. Don't know, and as a customer don't care, but someone should. The end result was as disappointing as it was...

My husband and I went here after a long day of Christmas shopping and we were super excited to see a steak n shake on our way home. I will say there were so many problems with not just our food but 2 other vehicles ahead of us that were in the drive though. We pulled up and ordered our food. we then pull forward to the pay and we couldn't they told 2 other cars ahead of us to pull forward and we were probably 4 iches away from reaching the window. While we waited i see they made my soft drink and 3 other shakes (not ours) just sitting on the counter (melting). We waited about 16 minutes to just PAY for our meals! They tell us to pull up behind the other 2 vehiles and they will bring our meals to us. 5 minutes go by and I finally see 1 person from each vehicle ahead of us get out and go inside. We wait another 5 minutes until I finally decided to go in and ask what's taking so long. Come to find out they mixed up orders and they had to restart. As we waited 3 vehicles behind us got their orders before any of us waiting in the lobby! As I sit there and wait I see the manager getting talked back to from the other workers and the other workers pacing around not doing anything to help but talking to each other laughing not doing anything to help with orders. Finally we get our meals and they were wrong. They gave us a piece of stake burger with nothing on it but bread they forgot my drink they forgot my sons drink and all of our fries were cold, they wrapped our food so sloppy that my burger was half way out of the wrapper the fries were all over the bag and we got 2 napkins.... we will not be returning to this particular...

Me and my family came here to grab some food. At first they gave some other people our food we had to go get it from them. Then The guy with the blue button up and tattoo was rude to my husband when he ask for his bacon to be crispy. Then the food came. Bacon was raw. So after that got fix. My son cheeseburger was only supposed to have cheese and bacon. It literally said on the receipt plan no chip onions. No bbq sauce. Only Bacon and cheese my son took off the bun. There was bbq no cheese. No bacon. So my husband took the food back up there to him and said it's wrong again and then he got mad and started shaken his head no like we was a problem. Very rude and then he brung the food back to our table and toss it down. I had to take my 4 month old to the bathroom to chat his diaper and my daughter has to use the restroom. There was no soap no toilet paper in the stalls. The 2 sinks had hair all in it like someone brush their hair over the sink. I literally took my child to the car and told my daughter to wait I didn't want her using that rester. The floor is dirty looks like it ain't been swept.and ontop of it all we paid $75 here with milkshakes and all to be treated like this and for the restroom to be a little cleaner. Felt like I would catch lice or something just from the restroom. We will not be coming back here we r the customers here we are paying the high price for food. At least make it right.
