I apologize for selecting one star for this place because it does not deserve to have any. ‘I have traveled and ate at BBQ places around the 48 continental US States for a period of 25 years but I have not found the Absolute Worst BBQ place in the country until now.
You have beaten all thee records so far in making the worst BBQ and the sides in the world! First of all, charging $22 for a half rack of ribs and $34 for a full is a disgrace in itself. The meat on the ribs was half way raw and could not be removed with a chain saw if you had it. They do not even have a running smoker while they are serving food. The two smokers that were parket in the back yard have not seen any action in months from what it seemed.
The pulled chicken was not pulled: it looked like chunks of chicken mixed with bits of pulled chicken that tasted blend and flavorless at best. the string beans tasted like they have been just dumped from a 60 lb Sysco truck plastic bag onto a tray and sprinkled with some stuff.
The cole slow tasted like it was laced with Acetone. I spat it out of my mouth right back in its container. They charge $4.00 for each side Which is outrageous.
This was our second time giving a try to this joint, hoping that the quality of food has improved. But, it has only gotten worst with time. The only difference was that they raised prices by 30% for lowering the quality of food by 40%.
During our last visit, the chicken tasted like it was soaked in vinegar and all of their sauces were disgusting.
A word of advice: if you go to a BBQ place and they have no running smoker outside - stay away. You are not buying BBQ. And you are in for a rude awakening.
I would not recommend anyone this place. And I have heard that they are also participating in an Annual BBQ festival at Seaside Heights. In fact, I ate their food there too. Half raw chicken quarter, nasty pulled pork and a Hot Dog. I got salmonella poisoning that time. So, beware!!!!!!! Stay...
Read moreIt tells you something right away if you go in asking what the best side dish is, and they say the brussel sprouts. It says all over the restaurant that this is an award winning smoked BBQ restaurant. However, taking a closer look, the awards are from 2008 for the bbq and 2013 for the restaurant itself. It's now 2025. With that being said, the meat we got (half chicken, chicken wings with dry rub, and pulled pork sandwich) was cooked perfectly. The ribs were a little dry but otherwise cooked well. All of the meat, however, lacked considerably in flavor and honestly didn't taste any better than Rib Crib. We also got macaroni and cheese, which tasted like traditional saltless catered macaroni and cheese; potato salad with mayonnaise base, and collard greens (which could have been cooked a little longer to not be so crunchy). Overall, the best thing we had was the half chicken, chicken wings, and potato salad. The BBQ sauce was okay, but I tend to prefer the actual meat to taste good and then add sauce to compliment it... if it needs it. The service was good and we didn't have to wait very long. The restaurant was a little slow with customers at the time, despite it being dinner time hours. Like my husband stated, it wasn't the worst, but it definitely wasn't the best and wouldn't have won any awards in my book.
They do offer military discounts and the deserts look good, although we did...
Read moreI am staying in the Best Western behind this restaurant. I decided to walk over, since it’s literally 50 ft from the front door of where I am staying, and give them a try. I have been to the Neptune location many years ago, but its been so long I didn’t remember what the food was like. I had such a good dinner here! I got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac n cheese. So good! I love how they have the bottles of BBQ sauce right on the table, and I made sure to make good use of them and smother my sandwich with their regular BBQ sauce. The employees here are so nice too. The service was very fast and the restaurant was very clean.
As a side note, I met a cat in the parking lot. An employee outside of LSBBQ told me his name was “Franklin” and they made a house for him behind the restaurant. Such nice people!
The only drawback, which isnt that surprising since everything is so pricey now a days, the prices here I felt were a little high. The sandwich, mac n cheese, drink, and tip were $25. The food is so good that its worth it, but its just something to consider before going.
Ill be back to see Franklin and have another pulled pork...
