Salsa's Authentic Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in New Haven

It looks like this is a small family run business, but here is an honest review. We arrived and there was no one to greet us and we just assumed we could sit anywhere, so we did. About 5-10 mins later a gentleman came and took our order. I tried to get a mojito and he said they did not have any at the moment 🤷🏽‍♂️. My wife got steak tacos and I got a carnitas meal. We each got canned sodas. The food came out relatively quick. The tacos were dry and lacked flavor. The carnitas with rice were good, but the cuerito in the carnitas was weird to say the least. We did not get our drinks until the end of the meal along with napkins. Also no one ever came to ask if the food was okay or if we needed anything.

Also we never got chips and salsa, not sure if this is not an option since this is suppose to be an authentic Mexican restaurant, but it was disappointing.

Grrrr I really dislike writing anything negative about a small business however I have to be honest I was extremely disappointed. They didn't have the dish they have advertised that lead me to them and the one suggested that was similar that was offered didn't come with my $80 purchase. I made it very clear that I wanted to purchase one. The order I received was two taco orders, a burrito,two quesadillas and a few charros. The price was hefty IMO since nothing came with sides as I thought did. I literally had to make additional food for my family of 5, 3vof us being children in order to have a full meal. However the food quality was very good. Note sites day delivery within 5 miles that's not the case no delivery only 3rd party. I doubt I will ever go back maybe dine in...

I ordered thru Uber eats, so I can't comment on their service or atmosphere, but on the food, it was highly disappointing. The nachos are made with some kind of cheese goo like you'd get from the ballpark. It was not appetizing and cold. Also, in the order was a vegetable burrito, and it wasn't as described on their menu. It was missing spinach and mushrooms, and they put potatoes and a huge amount of cilantro! Un-eatable. All I could taste was the cilantro. I asked for extra cheese and received zero cheese! As a side note, you would think with a name like salsa, they would include a container of some with your meal, but that didn't happen. I don't recommend this place. There are far better Mexican restaurants nearby that can deliver on...
