On The Waterfront Restaurant & Bar, located at 250 Pequot Avenue in New London, Connecticut, offers a dining experience with striking views of the Thames River. This family-run establishment, managed by Stash Schiavone and Chef Anthony Schiavone, emphasizes a combination of casual elegance and culinary excellence. The restaurant features a spacious dining room with waterfront views, a full bar, and an outdoor patio that is especially popular during the warmer months. It has made a name for itself by focusing on delivering the best of New London's culinary offerings through a diverse menu that includes seafood, pasta, steak, and chicken dishes… Venturing into the restaurant for the first time, I found myself unacquainted with the layout, leading to a waterside table that, while scenic, suggested a preference for the indoors next time around. The meal commenced with a rustic presentation of bread served with whipped, salted butter, setting a comforting tone. The appetizer—a delightful array of scallops wrapped in bacon and adorned with a basil aioli—was a standout, hinting at the culinary finesse that awaited. The main courses further showcased the kitchen's prowess. The "Surf and Turf" for my companion featured a perfectly cooked 4-ounce fillet medallion alongside a generous 6-ounce lobster tail stuffed with savory fillings, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and crisp vegetables, all enhanced by a rich lobster sauce. On the lighter side, the "Mediterranean Cod" was a vibrant dish that married the mild flavors of seared Atlantic cod with the intensity of sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and garlic, nestled on a bed of spinach. The light tomato sauce provided a fresh counterpoint, making it a dish that truly delighted. Dessert was an extravagant chocolate mousse cake, layered with lush mousse and frosted with a smooth chocolate buttercream. The addition of a drizzle of chocolate and a sprinkle of chocolate chips, along with my signature cappuccino, provided a decadent finale to our dining experience. Each element of the meal was crafted with attention to detail, offering a testament to the chef's ability to blend classic comfort with gourmet flair.

My family and I ate here the other night to celebrate my dad’s birthday and we were not disappointed. I was a little nervous trying this place because I had never been here before and seafood places are sometimes iffy, but our whole table was impressed with the food. Our waitress was awesome and service was great. For drinks I got the cucumber cooler and was impressed by how good it was! My parents got espresso martinis and they’re usually pretty judgy about how they are but they loved it. I got the baked cod, which I usually don’t get at places because sometimes it comes out too dry, and it was perfectly cooked! Other people at the table got the chicken parm, zuppa fra diavolo, and the baked fisherman’s platter and they were all very happy with their meals. The only thing about this place that people should know is that there’s no good parking area. There’s a couple spots next to the restaurant that fill up fast and you have to park on the street so it could be a bit of a walk if it’s a busy night.

Having never been to New London before, I was captivated by every nuance of this place, both inside and out. On street parking made things a little tricky, but we lucked out. We got there around 6:45 on a Wednesday night without reservations and were seated within 15 minutes. We had a cozy window seat near the bar, facing Pequot Ave. Our server was both professional and friendly. All three in my party ordered iced tea and the lobster roll with fries. The garlic butter that was served with a crispy warm bread was some of the best stuff I've ever put on a piece of bread. The iced tea was just the right strength, and didn't taste like it had been in a stainless steel pot all day. I've never had lobster roll before, but this was pretty good, as were the fries. This place feels more like a local eatery than a tourist trap.

A lot bigger inside than it looks from the out side and it is a wonderful location on the waterfront. The food was fantastic as well as our server. Thank you will be back
