I'm from Arizona, and one of the things I miss most is good Mexican food.
It's important to note that this place is not Mexican food, but central American (Honduran, I'm told), so they have their own distinct cuisine that happens to include amazing tacos.
There are four choices: chicken, steak, pernil (pork), and chorizo. All are priced at three dollars each, which is amazing for the area. Also amazing was the flavor: all three are street-taco style on double corn tortillas and loaded to the max with tasty fillings. Also a touch of heat, which I appreciate. A lot of places in New England dial down the heat for gringo plates, but not the case here.
There is a ton of other foods on the menu, but that will be future me's adventure.
The restaurant is very small, with a standing bar for four and a few small tables on the other side, maybe room for 12 to 16 people, at absolute most. Most of the guests got...
Read morebest bakery you probably never heard about. I found their new location by accident. Previously was located on Bank Street, now Jefferson. Stopped in after seeing sign outside, was now aware it was the same bakery I remembered so fondly from Bank Street. Once inside I saw faces I recognized. Everybody so friendly, most customers are probably from Puerto Rico and their menu for lunches etc reflect that style food. I was fascinated by their selection of pastries and didn't know what to try,. One of the other customers guided me to certain pastries, and his taste is impeccable. I left with a huge selection of different pastries and some even made it home. The rest were chosen by friends and eaten on the spot, before I got home. All wanted to know where this place is .I shall return, as I remember their empanadas are the finest in this area. I highly recommend...
Read moreOh man, this place is the number one reason I'm going to miss New London when I move back home tomorrow. The food here is so much better than you would expect just looking at the place, EVERYTHING I tried was delicious and the people make you feel welcome, they're patient and happy to help. You definitely get the family vibe that almost doesn't exist anywhere else these days. I'd give them unlimited stars if I could, I hope their success carries over and they're able to expand and bring their magic to a wider audience because it's needed in this day and age of mass produced, shrink wrapped, no contact delivery garbage we've all been conditioned to eat the last hours many years. This place is a time capsule and should be protected and valued...
