Shanghai Garden — Restaurant in New London

This place serves solidly good American Chinese food. I order from here regularly. It’s a very modest place with no tables. The food is always freshly prepared & piping hot. They cook the veggies perfectly: They are wok fried & cooked al dente. The egg rolls are VERY GOOD (not greasy at all). I always order a large Chicken with broccoli. The chicken is all white meat & the broccoli is freshly cooked in a tasty brown sauce. VERY YUMMY! I also recommend the veggie lo mein. (I have ordered the chicken lo mein which was okay. I did not care for the meat in them). Their House Special Wonton soup is a Qt sized & includes, wontons, veggies, pork, chicken & baby shrimp. It is DELICIOUS. They do a brisk take out service. Their prices are very reasonable & the kitchen is fast in preparing your order. The staff is very pleasant, kind, helpful & efficient!...

Meh!! This was just okay. Hot and sour soup had a different taste than what is usual for me, but it was very hot in temp. Had to ask for the "noodles" that go in the soup, but then they were not fresh...almost stale. We ordered house special fried rice which was good and had plenty of stuff in it (shrimp, chicken, boneless spare rib pieces.) The orange chicken came with a very substantial serving of broccoli which was great however, the chicken was VERY sweet and the broccoli was barely steamed.....almost raw. We thought that we would eat in, but you still need to order and pay at the counter. We were the only ones in the place eating in. Several people came for take out. I order pork fried rice with pepper chicken and I told her I wanted a small size. Then I went home and realize they have white rice . I was going to leave it like that but the white rice had no flavor . So I call her and explain to her . That they gave the wrong rice , she said that I order the small one . That the small one comes with white rice . I told her I did not know. How easy I suppose to know. She should have told me that it was with white rice . Because I told her I wanted pork fried rice. Then she started raising her voice and told me if I wanted pork friend rice to give her 3.00 $ more.. I go there all the time . But this just got me mad .. like why would you yelled at me for. ... her attitude was horrible. Never...
