Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in New Orleans

Stay away from the chicken tenders at Church's. I needed boneless fried chicken for chicken n waffles at home and I considered going to Robert's or Capt Sal's instead. I really wish I'd gone with one of those instead of Church's. The price for a dozen tenders ($13.99 before tax) by themselves was excessive. They were small, lacking flavor other than salt, breading was the consistency of a stale fortune cookie. They didn't even look appealing, like another minute or two in the oil would have done them a favor. I won't be getting the tenders again at any Church's based on this experience. I suspect this isn't location specific but the way their franchise manufactures their pre-breaded tenders. Just don't get their tenders because they are basically anemic. Their fried chicken pieces are much better and a fraction of the cost (and the only reason I'm leaving 2 stars here...

I went to the church’s chicken on St Claude Ave after I left the one on Chef Menteur Highway that the internet said was opened and was actually closed. I arrived about 5:15 or so. I waited in the line about 15-20 minutes with other customers who were waiting to order and some waiting for their order. Also, the store closes for 6pm, doors not locked and customers still coming in. The staff walked up and down in the lobby and behind the counter and verbalized nothing. At the end of the 20 minutes, a worker yelled and told us about 5:30-5:35 that the chicken that was coming up was it. The guy behind me spoke up and said, “ are you telling us that there is no more chicken”, she didn’t open her mouth, but instead, she shook her head no. Another lady told the ones that had already paid to wait for the chicken. I swear you can’t make this up. So...

Waited for almost five minutes for someone to acknowledge us to even order, then another 15 minutes for 3 chicken tenders and a "large" Mac and cheese that was cold, and three small containers that were all 1/3 full. I easily fit two portions of the Mac and cheese in one container, and still had room for half the third one. They gave me two bites more than a small, separated into three containers to make it look like more, and charged me for a large. They also had a woman outside demanding cigarettes and money from people and following them around the outside of store. I had to walk a different way home just so she wouldn't corner me to demand money...
