My family and I enjoyed a delightful day at the zoo the other day, marred only by the horrifying experience in the Zoofari Cafe. The food preparation staff in particular were woefully unprepared for the simple task in front of them to find out what the people who were there to patronize their establishment wanted, cook it and deliver it promptly.
There couldn't have been a half dozen customers, yet it took almost an hour to get us a simple order. I speak for each of those customers - all of whom were furious by the time they got their crumby food. Even the hungry children with us left about a third of their food uneaten because it was not particularly fit for consumption (see, of all things, the PB & J). Every single person working in food preparation on the afternoon of November 6th, 2023, should be fired and then go find a job where only the absolute minimum in life is asked of them.

Read moreOkay, maybe if we weren't in pandemic days, I'd give 5 💫 instead of 4...but...the zoo has only a couple of food/drink places open right now, which means social distancing is IMPOSSIBLE when it's hot outside and EVERYONE is crowded into these couple of areas to buy drinks and snacks. The lines were long and crowded with maskless people. As for the food, everything we tried was good (not great, but not terrible either). Our party (4 adults, two kids, and an infant) ordered chicken nuggets (tasted just like McDonald's) and chili-cheese fries, burgers (nothing really good or bad to mention), yogurt (a Yoplait cup), and drinks (Pepsi products, tea, beer, and lemonade). The $8 lemonade (32 oz) was honestly the best thing about the $75 we spent. We weren't expecting fine dining, and I suppose the food just met our expectations. Read moreFor a kid friendly/Family friendly cafe In the middle of the zoo, the service here is horrific! After waiting 20 minutes for a bottle of water and lemonade I had to deal with watching a rude employee talk about me to his coworkers for asking for an update on our drink. People who ordered food after us were already getting their food! Our order was just filling a cup and grabbing a bottle. I would have asked to speak to the manager however I believe he was the manager! All in all, if I was disrespectful I would have understood but as I am in customer service I understand being patient and respectful so I was nice. They are hiring and honestly they need to replace that guy as he should not be working...
