Audubon Clubhouse by Dickie Brennan & Co. — Restaurant in New Orleans

My wedding was here on October 20, 2018. This place was fantastic, despite some initial misgivings. We rented the venue and the Oak Grove behind the venue itself for our ceremony and they arranged chairs for our guests (for a small fee). The weather was very questionable and it was going to rain any moment, so the venue coordinator, Kalin, helped a lot by communicating with the vendors involved and we were able to start our ceremony 6 minutes earlier, which actually made a huge difference between a drizzle during vows, and a legitimate steady rain. Primary pros to the Clubhouse as a wedding venue:

Pros: If you love oaks, the grounds are gorgeous. Classy and beautiful interior with a spacious floor for dancing and a large wraparound veranda with plenty of space for dining. The weather at this time of year was great for an indoor/outdoor reception. The food was amazing. The two hors d'oeuvres that really stood out were alligator skewers and fried boudin balls. It was mouthwatering. Entrees of note were shrimp and grits, blackened catfish, and the carved filet station, char-grilled oysters, and cheese/fruit stations were delicious. We were able to have a private moment between the ceremony and reception in which we had drinks and small plates to enjoy some food and relax in the bridal suite while our guests enjoyed cocktail hour. The staff was very polite, efficient, experienced, and accommodating. They even packed some to-go bags of leftovers for myself/groom, and our parents. They anticipated needs before they were even asked.

Cons: I live in Kentucky (Louisiana born/raised, which is why the wedding was there) and communication was a bit of an issue. A few months after I put down a deposit for the venue, I was trying to contact the venue coordinator of the time, Jordan, only to find out that she didn't work there anymore and I'd been emailing her with questions for weeks and wondering why I wasn't getting any responses, aside from the fact that my wedding was months out. There was an IT issue where voicemail messages weren't getting through, so we and our our vendors were temporarily unable to communicate with the current venue coordinator, Kalin, the week of the wedding. My husband and I have been going to the Clubhouse for years and have always considered it to be the most underrated/best kept secret in New Orleans. Now the food has never been something to write home about, but the breakfast and wraps were decent and the setting is unbeatable. We were excited to see Brennan’s take over recently and had a nice first meal. So we didn’t think twice to go again today, but unfortunately the food and service were worse than the prior ownership. I’m not one to send food back but some of the chicken on my Cobb salad was raw and our fries were never put in so I ended up eating my meal alone. Given this, I would have expected something to be comp’d - maybe the salad or fries, a drink or even the chicken add on, but nada. What’s worse, my husband gave a bit of friendly feedback when we left that next time, that would be the least they could do and was met with confusion on why they would do such a thing. We couldn’t be more thrilled with our experience at the Audubon Clubhouse for our spring wedding! From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to make sure everything ran flawlessly. They asked thoughtful, detailed questions and made sure every specification was just right—we felt truly cared for and supported every step of the way.

The venue itself is absolutely stunning. The majestic oak trees created such a romantic and timeless backdrop, and the wraparound porch with the festoon lights gave the evening a warm, magical glow. It was everything we dreamed of and more.

And the food—wow! Our guests are still raving about how delicious everything was. Every bite was exceptional, and the service was just as impressive.
