Welcome to STATEN ITALY! @meals_by_cug took us around to his favorite spots and there was a lot of pizza and pastries…here’s where we went 🍕 @deninospizza for their white pie with onions and scungilli (conch) in red sauce 🥖 Melone & Sons Inc - you need their chocolate loaf that tastes like a warm chocolate chip pancake and their salami bread 🍦did you know the OG @ralphsfamous is in Staten Island? Get the graham cracker, mint chip, and birthday cake 🍕 more pizza @brotherspizza_si where Carly tried her first chicken roll, get all the slices, and a pepperoni and cheese stuffed Jamaican beef patty 🍕 @joeandpats is one of our favorite pizzas in NYC, we always eat at their East Village location but glad we got to try their original - perfect thin crust and the tri pie is excellent 🍕 @leestavern unassuming but making a killer white clam pie and Buffalo calamari 🍰 @royal_crown_si is now the only Italian bakery we care about and lucky for us, we had pastries for days • • • • #sistersnacking #statenisland #statenislandny #statenitaly #italian #italianfood #bakery #italianbakery #pizza #nycpizza #nyzpizzeria #pizzeria #clampizza #pizzas #newyorkcity #newyorkfood #nycfood #nycfoodie

What exactly is a New York slice? 🍕🤔 Let @ScottsPizzaTours founder Scott Wiener break it down for you here. When it comes to #pizza, Scott knows #WhatsGoodNYC. An internationally recognized pizza expert and historian, he’s been leading tours since 2008. He and his team also organize the annual benefit Pizza on the Pier here in NYC to fight hunger. NYC Tourism sent our social media director, @akuban—himself somewhat of a pizza nerd—on a recent tour of #StatenIsland with Scott, where they filmed a mini series breaking down the three most common pizza types that visitors to NYC will find at typical slice shops here in the City. We begin with a regular New York–style slice. Follow for Parts 2 + 3! 🔖 Bookmark this post as a reminder to book an excursion and #SavorNYC 🔗 Visit nyctourism.com/pizza for all our piping-hot pizza content. 🤝 NYC Tourism’s Savor NYC content is sponsored by @mastercard 📍Brother’s Pizza, 750 Port Richmond Road, Staten Island, NYC (@brotherspizza_si) * Low-moisture mozzarella is simply a way of identifying the regular, everyday mozzarella you’re probably familiar with from the cheese case at the supermarket. By definition, it has a water content of less than 52%—as opposed to fresh mozzarella (aka “fior di latte”). The advantages and reasons why it’s used for NY-style pizza are that it keeps longer due to its drier composition, and it releases little to no moisture onto the pizza as it melts, keeping our city’s signature slices crisp as can be. 🖤🤍🗽 #NYCTourismPizzaWeek #NYCpizza #WhatsGoodNYC #NYCTourism #NYCPizzaTours #NYCGuidedTours #NYCtours #NYCwalkingTours #TourGuides #ILoveNY #nyctourismXakuban #akubanXscottspizzatours

OK Tough Guy – Stop claiming to be from New York City. Everyone knows you’re from Milford, Pennsylvania or Fishkill, New York – Please spare us the lies and stolen valor. Bronx born, Long Island raised, Toured the Means Streets of Every Borough in this City – Battling the Demons in countless Emergency Rooms across the great city of New York – And, yes – I lived in Queens throughout my tenure which traumatized me. No Psychiatrist could calm be down; The only thing I could find to relax me is a good slice and an ice cold Mexican Coca Cola; - I’ve had them all, across Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and in the current decade – G-d has brought me to Staten Island. If you are still reading this, I guess you have figured it out, sizzle chest, this Fat Hebrew boy knows what he’s talking about. Brother’s Pizza in Staten Island quite possible may be the best and finest Pizza on the planet. Take a Prozac New Haven – yeah, you guys are amazing – But, you haven’t tried the Sicilian slices at Brother’s Pizza in the enchanted and forgotten world of Staten Italy, I mean Staten Island. Confession, please don’t have me wacked for saying this, the regular Napolitano slice is off the chart too. Why is Brother’s Pizza so incredible? Does this Pizzeria sit upon ground containing magical water, pumped from the sacred ground making the most incredible and delicious pizza dough? Is it the “Love” and “Skill” of Filippo Giove and his Colorful and Friendly band of Loyal Meshugganahs Pizza Boys who pull each and every one of their culinary masterpieces out of the oven. Let’s cut to the chase, Pizza is exceptional and made from the finest ingredients. Every visit to Brother’s Pizza, you will get service with a smile and perfection. Don’t be a putz, make the shlep to Staten Island – Yes, they have Parking. I suspect you may find some of the best pizza, particularly the Sicilian, on the planet earth. Don’t forget to show Love and Respect to the G-dfather, Filippo – He’s just a regular, run of the mill Mensch. L’Chayim / Salute

Definitely the food is in the issue is the young behind the counter two weeks ago, I went in there and I spent $37. I handed him $40 and gave me back change. I put tip in the box when I turned around to take my food and he asked me to pay. I said I paid already, most embarrassing situation ever was I had to request for the owner to come out and review footage from there cameras of me paying young man and when They reviewed the footage it show that i paid him the young man he apologize so did the owner, but I was so embarrassed by the whole situation. The way the young man was so disrespectful that there was two guys behind the counter working with him they both said to me , I cannot believe he forgot again This happen before with him.I know u always been paying customer I have been a regular paying customer more than 20 years. I will never go back brothers pizza ever again.! The whole experience, left a bad taste in my mouth!!! Great job keeping an employee that so rude and disrespectful to your customers! Tell him not to smoke so much before work so he can remember when customers pay him!! ...

I have been going to Brother’s since it opened in the 80’s. Was back home to Staten Island for a visit and I always visit my favorite places to eat. Well……. I will never go back again. I asked if a fresh pie was coming out of the oven the guy says “no”. Ok so now I have to eat what’s been laying there. Couldn’t decide which pizza I wanted because they all looked like they’ve been laying out all day with the flies all over. I asked the help for a slice as he started to cut it because it was laying there so long the cheese started to crack so I said never mind, so he got annoyed and threw the cutting utensil. The people I was with said let’s go. We went down the street to for pizza Sorry Brothers. Get an owner back to monitor your help. I will never go back. I’m an native Staten islander and Staten Island is not what it used to be and this is a perfect example. I used to love this place so much the night of my wedding in 1984 my husband and I had our limo stop there for slices on our way home from the reception. So this really bothers me. I’m extremely...
