I really wanted to love this place more. Itās really cute and has a sort of rustic feel so it would make for a cute lunch date spot. The girl at the counter was super rude. Iām not sure if she had a long day or was just looking to leave earlier than normal, but she just didnāt really seem like she wanted to be there. They didnāt have any beef or chicken empanadas- which were the ones I really wanted to try. I wish she wouldāve been more helpful when it came to picking things that I wouldāve liked, considering it was my first time there. Anyway, while I was paying for my food, I noticed that the counter girl got into a small argument with a woman who I later realized was the owner. She didnāt want to have to stay after closing to clean the kitchen. I kind of felt like that was a little unprofessional. I ordered two smoothies: the super power & the peanut butter berry. They were VERY BLAND and not good at all. I literally had to put so much stevia to make the smoothie taste somewhat okay. Jamba Juice, Tropical Smoothie or Red Mango has better smoothies. I also got the grilled 3 cheese- which was pretty good. I got a Cuban wrap with sweet potato fries- I felt like they were a little soggy- but I know itās really hard for most places to achieve the perfect sweet potato fry. I also got the guava and cheese empanada- which proved to be delicious. The owner handed me my food and introduced herself as Judy. She was a really nice woman and she seems very excited about having t her own business. However, I donāt think the food would be something that I really NEED to come back for. Thereās plenty of other tastier options on the island with the same price point. I like the idea that Staten Island is really getting on board with healthier eating, and I really love supporting small businesses, but there is just something missing out of this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI read the reviews on this place where a lot of people mentioned that they're rude. I didn't notice any rudeness at all even when I told a woman that my smoothie had no taste at all she was very happy to make me another one. I read the story yesterday on the Staten Island Advance about this place and decided to give it a shot so that evening I went there with my wife. We have the Cuban sandwich which was really good. one beef Empanada which my wife liked, one beef empanadas with cheddar cheese which was okay. (I would prefer it with mozzarella cheese but that's me.) We had two Empanada with guava and cheese which I think could be better, and a bottle of water. I had a smoothie which I can't remember the name but it had coconut milk, honey, mint leaves and a few other things but it had no taste whatsoever so I told the lady behind the counter and she made me another one that tastes a lot better. I see someone had commented about the beat up sofa but I must say after sitting on the sofa myself I wouldn't get rid of it because it's very comfortable. We waited about 20 minutes for the food so I don't think that was that bad. My wife did notice the kid behind the counter had some gloves on and went to the bathroom with the gloves on and came out of the bathroom with the gloves on and back behind the counter so that was a major concern to us, but that was after we got our food. I must say that it was cold inside the place and they did have some space heaters but it was still cold. . Like I said this was my first time and I will probably go again so overall my first experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Saturday December 2nd, 2023 my girlfriend and I went to Fresh Twist on New Dorp Lane for the first time. As a non native New Dorp restaurant I have no personal bias to write this review on. From the moment we walked in, Judy greeted us, offered us menu's and suggested us ideal appetizers, meals and smoothies based on the foods we like. I ended up getting the steak tacos, with a banana and strawberry smoothie, and custom yogurt bowl to go, and my girlfriend ended up getting a beef and cheese empanada and a chicken and cheese empanada as well as a berry and banana bowl. All of the food came out delicious, but the yogurt bowl is REALLY what I enjoyed the most. My bowl consisted of bananas, strawberries, pineapples, granola, honey, and yogurt. It was SO fresh, and flavorful and now I can't stop craving it. The steak tacos paired well with the Chipotle Mayo sauce, the meat was very fresh and well seasoned, and the smoothie also turned out to be very refreshing. My girlfriend also thoroughly enjoyed her empanadas of beef and cheese and chicken and cheese but stated the chicken and cheese empanada was preferred, she also enjoyed her own yogurt bowl. Overall, my experience was fantastic and I would recommend this place to anyone to eat as you will NOT be disappointed! Thank you Judy for such a pro customer service experience and such hospitality, WE WILL BE...
